Formula One 06 (also known as Formula One 2006 Portable for PlayStation Portable in Japan) is a racing video game developed by Studio Liverpool and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable. It is a sequel to the 2005 video game Formula One 05 and was based on the 2006 Formula One World Championship.
The game continues the tradition of a career mode, an option in place since the 2004 game. Formula One 06 uses the previous F1 game engine but with minor modifications (team and driver select with team mode has a team logo). This is also the last game in the Formula One series to be released on the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable.
In career mode, the player begins their career with either Super Aguri, Toro Rosso or Midland F1. Their position within the team, either a test driver; second driver or first driver, depends on how well the player performs during the trial sessions, and thereafter. The test sessions are either held at the Circuit de Catalunya; Silverstone or Magny-Cours circuits and can also be played out in either dry or wet conditions.
The game is based on the early 2006 Formula One World Championship. Hence, Yuji Ide drives for Super Aguri when in reality he lost his super licence just 4 races into the '06 Formula One World Championship, and Franck Montagny, then later Sakon Yamamoto took his seat. Other minor changes throughout the real 2006 Formula One World Championship are also not represented, therefore Pedro de la Rosa, Robert Kubica. Robert Doornbos, Franck Montagny and Sakon Yamamoto are not featured. Also, the Midland team are not re-branded as Spyker in later Grands Prix in the game.
The trial sessions vary from completing one "Flying Lap" to ten laps to beat the Target Time. Also, this target time can be an "Accumulative Target Time" where the player has four or three laps in which to consistently post fast times. The fastest laps are then added together and then compared to the Accumulative Target Time.
The player's career lasts a total of five Grand Prix seasons, in which they attempt to become a World Champion. This will most likely happen with the most competitive teams, e.g. Renault, Ferrari, McLaren or Honda.
In addition, certain prizes can be unlocked once certain criteria have been fulfilled, e.g. winning a grand prix, and unlocking an award such as the test track, Jerez. A trophy cabinet section is also featured so players can view the trophies they have won in different Grands Prix, or in the world championship. The F1 car that a player won the championship with is also displayed.
The game also features the new knockout qualifying system, introduced at the start of the 2006 Formula One World Championship, with three qualifying sessions. Other new additions include the formation lap and a much more competitive AI from previous F1 games in the series.
The game also features the V8 engine sound for the first time except for the Scuderia Toro Rosso STR1 V10 engine sound.
The new heavy damage system is also included with puncture, front-wing and nose damage. Rear wing damage and wheels off are included during gameplay.
Net Play was removed just before the release of the game. It was promised that for the first time the ability to race cross-platform would be possible, allowing PSP players to take on PS2 players, but this did not happen. Studio Liverpool cited time restraints as a reason for this. Also, due to time restraints, F1 07 was cancelled due to the release of Formula One Championship Edition (PS3).
It was possible to unlock a small selection of classic cars during gameplay, which could be driven in time trial mode. The classic cars available were:

The game received "average" reviews on both platforms according to the review aggregation website Metacritic. [1] [2] In Japan, Famitsu gave it a score of 31 out of 40 for the PlayStation 2 version, [4] and 28 out of 40 for the PSP version. [5]

Super Aguri F1 was a Formula One team that competed from 2006 to 2008. The team, founded by former F1 driver Aguri Suzuki, was based in Tokyo, Japan, but operated from the former Arrows factory at the Leafield Technical Centre, Oxfordshire, England. The cars were referred to as Super Aguri Hondas, with the team functioning to some degree as an unofficial Honda 'B'-team. After participating in the championship for 2 years and 4 months, the team withdrew from F1 after 4 races in the 2008 season due to financial difficulties. Throughout the team's time in the sport, it scored four points, all of which were scored by Takuma Sato during the 2007 season.
NBA Live 06 is a 2005 installment of the NBA Live series released on the Xbox, Xbox 360, GameCube, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 2 and Mobile. It was developed by EA Sports. The game features several game modes, including Dynasty, Season, Playoffs, or Free Play. It features Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat on the cover. This was the last NBA Live game on the GameCube and it also was the first NBA Live game on the Xbox 360 as a launch title and on the PlayStation Portable.

TOCA Race Driver 3, TOCA Race Driver 3 Challenge in the PlayStation Portable version and Race Driver: Create & Race in the Nintendo DS version is a racing video game developed and published by Codemasters for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, Xbox, PlayStation Portable and OS X. It is the sixth game in the TOCA series. The game features several fully licensed championships, including the DTM series and V8 Supercar championship. This is the last in the series to have TOCA in its title as following on from this TOCA was dropped in favour of just Race Driver. Despite featuring the name TOCA in its title, the game did not feature the British Touring Car Championship. The game received positive reviews, frequently being compared favourably to Gran Turismo 4 and Forza Motorsport, in the aspects of cars on track, collision and wear damage.

The arcade version of Virtua Tennis 3 is powered by the PC-based Sega Lindbergh arcade system board. F1 Racing Championship is a video game developed by Ubi Soft. Starring people and locations from the 1999 Formula One World Championship, it was released for several platforms during 2000 and 2001. At the time, it was facing steep competition by the ever-popular Grand Prix 3 and the rising F1-series by ISI. The sales were behind expectations. Reasons were a poor artificial intelligence and damage model and the bug-prone initial release. A patch to fix the reported issues was announced, but never released.

Super Stardust HD is a downloadable shoot 'em up video game that was released for the PlayStation 3 by Sony Interactive Entertainment, developed by the Finnish company Housemarque. In Asian regions, it is known as Star Strike HD. In 2015, a port for the PlayStation 4, called Super Stardust Ultra, was released. In 2016, Super Stardust Ultra VR, a PlayStation VR compatible version that contains Super Stardust Ultra, was released for the PlayStation 4. It is also available as paid downloadable content for Super Stardust Ultra.

F1 2009 is a video game based on the 2009 season of the Formula One motor racing series. It was released on the Wii and PlayStation Portable in 2009 on 16 November in North America, 19 November in the PAL region and 20 November in the United Kingdom. The game was also released on iOS on 14 December for £6.99. The PlayStation Portable version was also available as a download from the PlayStation Store from 16 November.
F1 2000 is a racing video game developed by Visual Science for the PlayStation version and Image Space Incorporated for the Microsoft Windows version and published by EA Sports for PlayStation and Microsoft Windows. It is based on the 2000 Formula One season. F1 2000 was the last Visual Science F1 game to appear on the PlayStation. With an official FIA Formula One license, it includes the full 2000 World Championship season, including the new Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Jaguar Racing team.
F1 2001 is a racing video game developed by Image Space Incorporated for the Microsoft Windows version and EA UK for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox version and published by EA Sports for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2 and Xbox. It is based on the 2001 Formula One season. A port for GameCube has been planned, but was cancelled for unknown reasons. A Game Boy Color version was also cancelled during development.
