Kalayat is a town in Kaithal district in the Indian state of Haryana. It is historical town known as Kapilayat and Kapilayatana in past, named after the Vedic sage Kapil Muni, is home of the 8th century Kalayat Ancient Bricks Temple Complex. After Dwarka drowned , Arjun along with women and children went towards Hastinapur via Kaithal.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, [2] Kalayat had a population of 16,747. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Kalayat has an average literacy rate of 70%, lower than the national average of 74.04%: male literacy is 70%, and female literacy is 65%. In Kalayat, 17% of the population is under 0–6 years of age.

Chhachhrauli is a tehsil and Gram Panchayat town consisting of 20 wards in Yamuna Nagar district in the state of Haryana, India. It is 11 km north-east of Jagadhari. Chachhraulli is often known as "Cherapunjii of Haryana" as it receives the most rain in the whole of Haryana . It was a municipal committee until 1998. Before independence in 1947, it was the capital of the princely state of Kalsia. The origin of word Chhachhrauli is believed to be "Sat Sherawali" due to a temple located near bus terminus.

The Kalayat Ancient Brick Temple Complex is a ruined brick temple complex north of Delhi, is located in Kalayat town in Kaithal district of the state of Haryana, India. It comprises the several Hindu temples, including two ancient temples dating from the 8th century. This temple constitutes an important point in the series of 48 kos parikrama of Kurukshetra. Tradition avers that the temples are associated with the Shalivahana.
