Malaysia is a federal constitutional monarchy located in Southeast Asia. It is a relatively state-oriented and newly industrialised market economy. [1] [2]
The state plays a significant but declining role in guiding economic activity through macroeconomic plans. [3] [4] In 2014, Malaysia's economy grew 6%, the second highest growth in ASEAN behind Philippines' growth of 6.1%. [5] The economy of Malaysia (GDP PPP) in 2014 was $746.821 billion, the third largest in ASEAN behind Indonesia and Thailand and the 28th largest in the world. [6] [ needs update ]

The UMW Holdings Berhad is one of the largest companies and also one of the leading industrial enterprises, serving the economies of Malaysia and the Asia-Pacific region. On 13 December 2023, it was announced that Sime Darby completed the purchase of the majority stake (61.2%) in the company.
The Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur, formerly known as Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College (KLIUC), is a university in Kajang, Hulu Langat District, Selangor, Malaysia. It supplies crude palm oil and palm kernel to Musim Mas. “Sustainable Palm Oil Transparency Toolkit” (SPOTT) ranks TSH Resources 24th of 25 among of the world’s largest publicly listed palm oil companies.
