This is the first visit in 14 years where both heads of state conducted bilateral talks. The President met his French counterpart François Hollande to forge a strategic partnership against terrorism in the region. [63] Furthermore, France pledged over 250 million euros in funds for infrastructure projects in the country. [64] Uhuru also met with various stakeholders in the tourism industry in France to promote Kenya as a safe tourist destinations for French citizens. [65]

This was the first visit by a Kenyan head of state to Germany in 17 years. The last visit to Germany was made by Daniel arap Moi in 1999. [66] President Kenyatta held bilateral talks with chancellor Angela Merkel regarding, security, trade and foreign investments. The president also attended the Kenya-Germany Business forum. Germany is the 4th largest foreign investors in the country and the president stressed to facilitate to increase the trade between the two countries. Furthermore, the president also attended the Renewables Academy AG (RENAC) Industrial Park and the Berlin Adlershof Science City. [67]

Uhuru Kenyatta meets Yoweri Museveni and Paul Kagame at the Speke resort in Kampala for the NCIP summit. Various infrastructure projects were discussed that include power generation, transmission and interconnectivity, crude oil pipeline, commodities exchange, human resource capacity building and land. In particular the Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway which is almost near completion was discussed for its expansion to Naivasha. Moreover, the Rwanda-South Sudan SGR feasibility was discussed. The president's main focus of the trip was to discuss the Tripartite Free Trade Agreement and to attend the 2nd Botswana-Kenya business seminar. [74] This is kenyatta's first visit to the country after Ian Khama, displayed his interest against the president in the International Criminal Court investigation in Kenya. [75]

Kenyatta attends the 28th IGAD Extra-Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government. Uhuru Kenyatta and Hassan Mohamud held bilateral talks in a hotel close to the airport. The meeting is the first international event that will host heads of states since 1991. The meeting is to discuss the presidential and parliamentary elections to be held in Somalia soon and the situation in South Sudan. This is the first visit by a Kenyan president to Somalia in 30 years. [79]

Musyoka served in the government under the late President Daniel arap Moi as the Secretary of Kenya African National Union party (1980-1988), Assistant Minister for Works (1986-1988), Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly (1988-1992), Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1993 until 1998, Minister of Education (1998-2001); and subsequently, under the late President Mwai Kibaki, he was Minister of Foreign Affairs again from 2003 to 2004, then Minister of the Environment from 2004 to 2005. He was an unsuccessful candidate in the 2007 presidential election, after which he was appointed vice-president by Kibaki in January 2008.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">William Ruto</span> President of Kenya since 2022

William Kipchirchir Samoei Arap Ruto is a Kenyan politician who is the fifth and current president of Kenya since 13 September 2022. Prior to becoming president, he served as the first elected deputy president of Kenya from 2013 to 2022. He previously served in three cabinet portfolios as the Minister for Home Affairs, the Minister of Agriculture and as Minister for Higher Education.

Amina Chawahir Mohamed Jibril, born 5 October 1961, is a former Kenyan cabinet secretary, lawyer and a diplomat of Somali descent. She is the immediate former Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Heritage and Culture in Kenya. She previously served as chairwoman of the International Organization for Migration and the World Trade Organization's General Council, as well as Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme. She served as the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Kenya from May 2013 to February 2018, when President Uhuru Kenyatta, after re-election, moved her to the Education docket. In March 2019, she was moved to the Sports Ministry replacing Rashid Echesa. The KNEC Director, George Magoha replaced her in the Education docket.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Presidency of Uhuru Kenyatta</span>

The presidency of Uhuru Kenyatta began on 9 April 2013 after being sworn in as 4th president of Kenya and ended on 13 September 2022 after handing over to William Ruto. He succeeded Mwai Kibaki. During his inaugural speech Uhuru promised economic transformation by 2030, unity among all Kenyans, free maternal care and that he would serve all Kenyans. In 2017, he won a second term on 8 August and upon a Supreme Court verdict, the results were repealed. The resulting elections were controversial as Raila Odinga boycotted the elections and as the only other active candidate, he won by a 98% victory with the lowest turn out. A stalemate would result as Raila and His partners would carry out a parallel swearing in ceremony after Kenyatta's swearing in. Riots would break out as Raila entered the country resulting in a number of deaths. On 28 March the two partnered to form the Building bridges initiative ending the tense political atmosphere present in the country.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Kenya–United Kingdom relations</span> Bilateral relations

Kenya–United Kingdom relations are bilateral relations between Kenya and the United Kingdom. The interactions between the two states have been positive and friendly since Kenya's independence in 1963. Both the UK and Kenya are members of the Commonwealth of Nations and engage with each other regularly on matters of military, economic and cultural importance. Kenya retains many aspects of British culture and governance, such as continuing to use English within administration, education and the law, driving on the left, hosting a diaspora community of Britons, and having a large Protestant population. The British military continues to play an important role in the country with Kenya hosting the UK's largest base in Africa, which provides vital anti-terrorism training to the Kenyan police. The British royal family, in particular Elizabeth II had very close personal ties to the country. Elizabeth II was in Kenya when she received news that her father King George VI had died, and had made multiple state visits throughout her reign. To mark the 2022 Platinum Jubilee, Prince Edward visited the country to reinforce ties and celebrate Kenya's historic and current relationship with the UK. British tourism and finance are significant contributors to the Kenyan economy, with 100,000 British people visiting the country ever year for its national parks and wildlife.

David Kenani Maraga is a Kenyan lawyer and jurist. He was the 14th Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya from October 2016 until his retirement in January 2021.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Jubilee Party</span> Nationalist political party in Kenya

The Jubilee Party of Kenya is a major political party in Kenya. It has significantly influenced the country's political landscape since its founding on 8 September 2016. Emerging from a merger of 11 smaller parties, including The National Alliance (TNA) led by then-President Uhuru Kenyatta and the United Republican Party (URP) led by then-Deputy President William Ruto, Jubilee quickly became the ruling party. It secured a strong plurality in Parliament during the 2017 elections, cementing its dominance as Uhuru Kenyatta won re-election as president.

The Beyond Zero Campaign is an initiative launched by Kenya's First Lady, Margaret Gakuo Kenyatta. Its goals are to improve maternal and child health in Kenya, and to reduce new HIV infections among children. The campaign was unveiled in 2013 on World AIDS Day, and launched on 24 January 2014. Many international organizations have joined Kenyatta and the Kenyan government in supporting Beyond Zero.

Mercy Gakuya is a Kenyan politician. She is a member of Jubilee Party and the member of parliament for Kasarani Constituency.

Paul Ongili Owino, also known as Babu Owino, is a Kenyan politician and member of parliament for Embakasi East Constituency. He gained media recognition the chairperson of Students Organisation of Nairobi University (SONU).

Nzioka Siwadie Waita is a Kenyan advocate who has served as the 2nd Chief of Staff of Kenya's State House and Head of Kenya's Presidential Delivery Unit since 5 January 2018. He succeeded Joseph Kinyua, who is Kenya's Head of Public Service, at the start of the 2nd term of President Uhuru Kenyatta of the Republic of Kenya. Prior to this appointment, Waita served in the capacity of Deputy Chief of Staff and Deputy Head of the Public Service, deputising Joseph Kinyua in both capacities. And prior to this he served as Secretary, President’s Delivery Unit.

Zachariah Kìnùthia, popularly known as Zack Kìnùthia, was the Chief Administrative Secretary, Ministry of Sports, Culture, and Heritage between January 2020 and February 2022 when he resigned. He is also a former chairman of the Student Organization of Nairobi University (SONU).
