Paul Austerberry is a Canadian film and television production designer. For his set design in the 2017 film The Shape of Water he won an Academy Award [1] [2] and a BAFTA Award for Best Production Design [3] with set decorators Shane Vieau and Jeff Melvin. [4] [5] In the 2013 film Pompeii , he won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Art Direction/Production Design at the 3rd Canadian Screen Awards in 2015 with Nigel Churcher. [6]

Early life

Paul Austerberry was born in 1966 to parents Peter and Deanna Austerberry. [7] Though the City of Toronto is his birthplace, Northern Ontario's Sault Ste. Marie waterfront city is the place where Paul Austerberry, an only child, was raised by his British-born father and Filipina mother. [8]

The 90th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), honored the best films of 2017, and took place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. The ceremony was held on March 4, 2018, rather than its usual late-February date to avoid conflicting with the 2018 Winter Olympics. During the ceremony, AMPAS presented Academy Awards in 24 categories. The ceremony, which was televised in the United States by ABC, was produced by Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd and directed by Glenn Weiss.
