Turkey in the Council of Europe

Turkey is a member of the Council of Europe. ^{[1] [2]} Membership is obligatory for joining the European Union. As of 2023 ^[update] Turkey has nearly a third of the cases pending at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). ^[3]
