The 18th Politburo Standing Committee, formally the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, was elected by the 1st Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee on 15 November 2012, in the aftermath of the 18th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). It was preceded by the CCP's 17th Politburo Standing Committee and was succeeded by the 19th in 2017.

A graduate from Tsinghua University, Chen served as the party secretary of the institution from 2002 to 2008. Li Hongzhong is a Chinese politician, who is currently the first-ranking vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and a member of the Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party. Born in Shenyang, Li spent much of his early career in Guangdong province, including as mayor, then party secretary of Shenzhen. He was transferred to Hubei province in 2007 and would go on to serve as Governor and party secretary there. He served as the Communist Party Secretary of Tianjin between 2016 and 2022.

They were first announced on 4 December 2012, after a Politburo meeting led by Xi Jinping, who then had recently became General Secretary of the CCP. Detailed implementing regulations were adopted by the Politburo in 2022.

The Huairen Hall or Huairentang is a building inside Zhongnanhai, the Chinese government's leadership compound in Beijing. It has been the site of several major events in Chinese history.
