National Democratic Party is right wing political party in Bangladesh. [1] [2] Salahuddin Kader Chowdhury was elected member of 5th parliament of Bangladesh. Khandaker Golam Mortuza was the chairman till 2018 of the National Democratic Party. [3] Now K M Abu Taher is the Chairman and Abdullah-Al-Harun (Sohel) is Secretary General of the National Democratic Party (NDP).

History

Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury led the National Democratic Party in the early 1990s and worked against the Bangladesh Awami League against the Bangladesh Nationalist Party government. [4]

The National Democratic Party joined the National Democratic Front, an alliance of 10 nationalist party, in September 2014. [5] The Party had quit the Bangladesh Nationalist Party led Grand Alliance in October 2014. [6] Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury was elected to Parliament on a National Democratic Party nomination from Chittagong-6 in 1991. [7]

National Democratic Party left the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in 2022 and create a 12 party alliance. [8] [9]

Abdul Qasim Mohammad Badruddoza Chowdhury served as the President of Bangladesh from 14 November 2001 until his resignation on 21 June 2002. He was the founding secretary-general of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

The Jatiya Party is a conservative, nationalist political party in Bangladesh and is currently the main opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad, against the Awami League. The current chairman of the party is Ghulam Muhammad Quader. On 3 January 2019, the party announced its decision to join the Bangladesh Awami League-led Grand Alliance after having been in opposition for the previous parliamentary term. However, the party backtracked the next day and announced that it intended to remain part of the opposition. Currently, it holds Rangpur out of Bangladesh's 12 city corporations.

Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury was a Bangladeshi politician, minister and six-term member of Jatiya Sangsad and member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee, who served as the adviser of parliamentary affairs to Prime Minister Khaleda Zia in from 2001 to 2006. On 1 October 2013 he was convicted of 9 of 23 charges and sentenced to death by the International Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh for crimes during the 1971 Bangladesh War of Independence. He was executed in Dhaka on 22 November 2015.

The 20 Party Alliance was a Bangladeshi coalition of right-wing political parties, led by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. It was originally formed as the 18 Party Alliance on 18 April 2012 in Dhaka, extending its predecessor the Four Party Alliance. The 20 Party Alliance was formed as an effort to strengthen the opposition's demands for restoring the caretaker government system used between 1996 and 2008. The main rival of this alliance is the Grand Alliance, led by Awami League which came into power after the election in 2008.

The Bangladesh National Awami Party Bengali: বাংলাদেশ ন্যাশনাল আওয়ামী পার্টি-বাংলাদেশ ন্যাপ is a political party in Bangladesh. The party traces its origins to a splinter group of the National Awami Party (Bhashani) led by Mashiur Rahman, who was popularly known as Jadu Mia. Jadu Mia's NAP faction had merged with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party in the late 1970s. Jadu Mia's son Shafiqul Ghani Swapan refounded the Bangladesh National Awami Party in December 2006. Shafiqul Ghani Swapan died in 2009, after which Jebel Rahman Ghaani took over as party chairman.
