Geography

The South Johnstone River forms the south-western and southern boundary of the locality, while the Johnstone River forms the north-western boundary. [3]

Pin Gin Hill is in the east of the locality ( 17°33′47″S145°57′19″E / 17.5630°S 145.9552°E / -17.5630; 145.9552 (Pin Gin Hill) ), rising to 184 metres (604 ft) above sea level. [3] [4] [5]

The Palmerston Highway enters the locality from the north-east (Stoters Hill) and exits to the west (Coorumba). [6]

The South Johnstone sugar mill operates a cane tramway route through the locality. [7]

The land use is a mixture of grazing on native vegetation, growing sugarcane and other tropical crops, and some rural residential housing. [8]
