The United People's Party Liberal (abbr.UPPL) is a regional party of Assam. The party has its headquarters in Kokrajhar Town. The party has significant support in Bodoland Territorial Region.
The UPPL was formed on 5 August 2015 and the earlier name was Peoples Co-ordination for Democratic Right (PCDR). [2] The party was formed with the ideology of working for the welfare of the people irrespective of caste, creed and religion. [3]
Bharatiya Janata Party announced that it has agreed to support efforts by the UPPL to form an executive body in Bodoland Territorial Council. The leader of the UPPL, Pramod Boro became the new Chief Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Council on 15 December 2020. [4] [5]
United People's Party, Liberal has been granted with "Tractor Chalata Kisan" as its reserved symbol in the state of Assam by the Election Commission of India. [6]

A controversial photograph of Benjamin Basumatary, a suspended leader of the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), an ally of the BJP in Assam, has sparked debate ahead of the Lok Sabha polls after circulating widely on social media. Basumatary, clad only in a traditional "gamosa," is depicted lying on a bed surrounded by Rs 500 notes. UPPL chief Pramod Boro clarified that Basumatary was suspended from the party in January due to allegations of corruption and misuse of funds in government schemes. [7]

The National Democratic Alliance is a centre-right to right-wing conservative Indian political alliance led by the right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). It was founded in 1998 and currently controls the government of India as well as the government of 17 Indian states and one Union territory.
Boro, also called Bodo, is an ethnolinguistic group native to the state of Assam in India. They are a part of the greater Bodo-Kachari family of ethnolinguistic groups and are spread across northeastern India. They are concentrated mainly in the Bodoland Territorial Region of Assam, though Boros inhabit all other districts of Assam and Meghalaya.
Asom Gana Parishad is a political party in the state of Assam, India. The AGP was formed following the historic Assam Accord of 1985 and formally launched at the Golaghat Convention held from 13 to 14 October 1985 in Golaghat, which also allowed Prafulla Kumar Mahanta who was the youngest chief minister of the state to be elected. The AGP has formed government twice once in 1985 then again in 1996. The popularity of AGP surged in the late 1980s but declined in the 2000s.
The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) is an autonomous division in Assam, India, and a proposed state in Northeast India. It is made up of four districts on the north bank of the Brahmaputra river below the foothills of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh. It is administered by an elected body known as the Bodoland Territorial Council which came into existence under the terms of a peace agreement signed in February 2003 and its autonomy was further extended by an agreement signed in January 2020. The region covers an area of over nine thousand square kilometres and is predominantly inhabited by the Bodo people and other indigenous communities of Assam.
The Bodo Liberation Tigers Force, also known as the Bodo Liberation Tigers, was an armed militant group that operated in the Bodo dominated regions of Assam, India. The BLTF was founded on 18 June 1996 by Prem Singh Brahma and Hagrama Mohilary. Hagrama Mohilary was the chief of the outfit.

He won the third General Assembly Elections 2015 and formed his Government for the third time. Mohilary was the chief of the Bodo Liberation Tigers (BLT) before joining the mainstream politics in 2003.

All 40 seats in the legislative assembly were set up for election. Bodoland People's Front won the election for the third consecutive term by winning 20 seats and 28.5 percent of the votes. BPF also lost 11 seats in contrast to the last election in which they won 31 seats.
