Burujupeta is a locality in One Town area, Visakhapatnam city. [1] "Burujupeta" comes from "Buruju," a Telugu loan word from Persian and Arabic meaning fort. The temple of Visakhapatnam's goddess deity Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi is found in the city. [2]

The Kanaka Maha Lakshmi Temple is located within the city. [3] On the first Thursday of Agrahayana masaam, the area is busy with devotees of the temple. [4]

Kanaka Dasa (1509–1609) was a Haridasa saint and philosopher, popularly called Daasashreshta Kanakadasa. He was a renowned composer of Carnatic music, poet, reformer and musician. He is known for his keertanas and ugabhoga, and his compositions in the Kannada language for Carnatic music. Like other Haridasas, he used simple Kannada and native metrical forms for his compositions.

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is the civic body that governs the city of Visakhapatnam, largest city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
