Caledonia is an underground light rail transit (LRT) station under construction on Line 5 Eglinton, a new line that is part of the Toronto subway system. It will be located along Eglinton Avenue between the GO Transit Barrie rail corridor and the entrance to the Westside Mall. This is about 200 metres (660 ft) west of Caledonia Road opposite Blackthorn Avenue. [2]
In April 2014, the station's headwalls were tunnelled through. [3] [4] [5] The station is scheduled to open in 2024. [6]
The main entrance will face Eglinton Avenue West and have a small station plaza. The station will include a bus loop with two bus bays, outdoor parking for 60 bicycles and retail spaces within the main entrance at ground level. [2]
The underground station platform will be located on the north side of the Eglinton Avenue directly under the main entrance. The station design provides an opportunity to bring sunlight from this entrance down to the platform level [2] via an open shaft from the upper concourse. [7]
As part of a program to install artworks at major interchange stations along Line 5 Eglinton, Caledonia station will feature the artwork Ride of Your Life by Janice Kerbel, consisting of a series of large-scale mosaic wall works which will be visible from the Line 5 platform level. The artwork shows mosaic images of signage with multiple typefaces and sizes. [8]
In May 2015, Metrolinx announced plans to add Caledonia as a future stop on the GO Transit Barrie line. [9] [10] The environmental assessment for the GO station was expected to be complete in early 2016. Construction of the GO portion of the station is expected to take two years. [11] As of 2022, construction was expected to begin in mid-2023 and conclude sometime after the opening of Line 5 Eglinton. [12]
The LRT station will be integrated with the planned GO station. There will be a pedestrian bridge connecting the GO station to the LRT station's main entrance. The GO station will have a second entrance at its north end where both the York Beltline Trail and Bowie Avenue end. In future, through the Regional Rail Express project, a second track is planned for the GO line to enable all-day, two-way GO train service. [13] [10]

Eglinton West is a subway station on Line 1 Yonge–University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the median of Allen Road on the north side of Eglinton Avenue West.

The Eglinton West line was a proposed east–west subway line in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, whose construction began in 1994 but was cancelled in 1995. It was to start from the existing Eglinton West station on the Toronto Transit Commission's Yonge–University–Spadina line, travel underneath Eglinton Avenue West, and terminate at Black Creek Drive in its initial phase.
Transit City was a plan for developing public transport in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was first proposed and announced on March 16, 2007 by Toronto mayor David Miller and Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) chair Adam Giambrone. The plan called for the construction of seven new light rail lines along the streets of seven priority transit corridors, which would have eventually been integrated with existing rapid transit, streetcar, and bus routes. Other transit improvements outlined in the plan included upgrading and extending the Scarborough RT line, implementing new bus rapid transit lines, and improving frequency and timing of 21 key bus routes. The plan integrated public transportation objectives outlined in the City of Toronto Official Plan, the TTC Ridership Growth Strategy and Miller's 2006 election platform.
Line 5 Eglinton, also known as the Eglinton Crosstown LRT or the Crosstown, is a light rail transit line that is under construction in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Owned by Metrolinx and operated by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), the line will be part of the Toronto subway system as its fifth route. The line is being constructed in two phases, with two extensions approved by the Toronto government but not yet under construction.
Mount Dennis is an intermodal transit terminal under construction in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Located east of the intersection of Eglinton Avenue and Weston Road in the Mount Dennis neighbourhood in the district of York, the station will be the western terminus of the future Line 5 Eglinton as well as an intermediate station on the GO Transit Kitchener line and Union Pearson Express. The station has been designated as one of many "mobility hubs" in Greater Toronto. It is scheduled to open in 2024.

Fairbank is an underground light rail transit (LRT) station under construction on Line 5 Eglinton, a new line that is part of the Toronto subway system. It will be located in the Fairbank neighbourhood at the intersection of Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue West. Destinations include the Fairbank neighbourhood and Fairbank Memorial Park. As of 2017, construction work related to the station was in progress, having been scheduled to begin in 2014. The station is scheduled to open in 2024.

Renforth, referred to during planning as Renforth Gateway, is a bus station on the border of the cities of Mississauga and Toronto, in Ontario, Canada. Located at Eglinton Avenue and Renforth Drive, it is the eastern terminus of the Mississauga Transitway and is close to the interchange between Highway 401 and Highway 427.
The Big Move is a regional transportation plan (RTP) published in 2008 and consisting of 62 rapid transit projects to be implemented across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). These rapid transit projects are intended to form a seamlessly integrated regional rapid transit network, which is the first priority action in the regional transportation plan. These projects form two long-term templates with 15 and 25 year horizons. These templates outline broad projects; specific details about technology, alignment, stations and service levels for each project are subsequently determined though a cost–benefit analysis or an environmental assessment process.
Headwalls that will form the box of the stations have been installed at Keele Street and Caledonia Road, and work is under way on one at Dufferin Street. The TBMs go right through headwalls after they have been built, in order to ensure a tight seal, and the two at work in this area are now on either side of what will eventually be the Caledonia LRT station.
Digging 50 feet below street level, the 81-metre long TBMs nicknamed Dennis and Lea are currently located in the vicinity of Caledonia Road, one of 12 underground Crosstown stations planned for the route. They are expected to reach the Allen later this year, when they will be redeployed beyond Eglinton West subway station to continue the dig east towards Yonge Street.
"It's a seemingly simple process that's actually very high tech," said Kramer. The first of the two tunneling machines (dubbed Dennis) entered the ground June of 2013 and has made it to Caledonia Rd. from its starting point at Black Creek Dr. The other machine, Lea, is just behind.
Metrolinx, the provincial agency in charge of regional transportation plans in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Areas, has announced it will be adding a GO Transit station on the Barrie GO line at Eglinton Avenue West and Caledonia Road.
The expected completion date for the station is 2020, to open at the same time as the new Eglinton Crosstown LRT. Metrolinx, a provincial agency in charge of both projects, is currently conducting an environmental assessment for the GO station, which is expected to be complete in early 2016.
