The following is a list of mascots of Association football teams, sorted by the country in whose league they appear.
Each Brazilian football team has a number of symbols attached to it and is used prominently by the fandom. Among these symbols are the badge, the flag, the anthem and the mascot. While the first three are commonplace all over the world, the last one is peculiarly Brazilian both in its character and its use.
A club's mascot is a cartoon character, often that of an animal, that symbolises some virtue boasted by the team. Most of them have proper names. Usually mascots come in two versions, a "soft" one, which is the official and a "hardcore" one used by ultras and torcidas, which often contain traces of vulgarity or violence. [6]
A mascot is also created for the World Cups, and are used for promoting environmental awareness. [7]

An expansion team is a new team in a sports league, usually from a city that has not hosted a team in that league before, formed with the intention of satisfying the demand for a local team from a population in a new area. Sporting leagues also hope that the expansion of their competition will grow the popularity of the sport generally. The term is most commonly used in reference to the North American major professional sports leagues but is applied to sports leagues in other countries with a closed franchise system of league membership. The term refers to the expansion of the sport into new areas. The addition of an expansion team sometimes results in the payment of an expansion fee to the league by the new team and an expansion draft to populate the new roster.

The preliminary rounds operated within a consistent national structure whereby club entry into the competition was staggered in each federation, with the winning clubs from Round 7 of the preliminary rounds in each member federation gaining entry into the Round of 32. All Australian clubs were eligible to enter the qualifying process through their respective FFA member federation, however only one team per club was permitted entry in the competition.
