The Kerala Legislative Assembly, popularly known as the Niyamasabha (Malayalam : നിയമസഭ, niyamasabha  ? , literally Hall of laws), is the law making body of Kerala, one of the 29 States in India. The Assembly is formed by 140 elected representatives and one nominated member from the Anglo-Indian community. Each elected member represents one of the 140 constituencies within the borders of Kerala and is referred to as Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA). [1]

Malayalam language spoken in Kerala and Lakshadweep of India

Malayalam is a Dravidian language spoken in the Indian state of Kerala and the union territories of Lakshadweep and Puducherry (Mahé) by the Malayali people, and it is one of 22 scheduled languages of India. Malayalam has official language status in the state of Kerala and in the union territories of Lakshadweep and Puducherry (Mahé) and is spoken by 38 million people worldwide. Malayalam is also spoken by linguistic minorities in the neighbouring states; with significant number of speakers in the Nilgiris, Kanyakumari, and Coimbatore districts of Tamil Nadu, and Kodagu and Dakshina Kannada districts of Karnataka. Due to Malayali expatriates in the Persian Gulf, the language is also widely spoken in Gulf countries.

Kerala State in southern India

Kerala is a state on the southwestern, Malabar Coast of India. It was formed on 1 November 1956, following passage of the States Reorganisation Act, by combining Malayalam-speaking regions. Spread over 38,863 km2 (15,005 sq mi), Kerala is the twenty-second largest Indian state by area. It is bordered by Karnataka to the north and northeast, Tamil Nadu to the east and south, and the Lakshadweep Sea and Arabian Sea to the west. With 33,387,677 inhabitants as per the 2011 Census, Kerala is the thirteenth-largest Indian state by population. It is divided into 14 districts with the capital being Thiruvananthapuram. Malayalam is the most widely spoken language and is also the official language of the state.

K. Karunakaran Indian politician

Kannoth "K." Karunakaran was an Indian politician and member of the Indian National Congress party. He served as the Chief Minister of Kerala four times: for a brief period from March 1977 to April 1977, another short term from December 1981 to March 1982, followed by a brief period of president's rule from March 1982 to May 1982, from May 1982 to May 1987, and from June 1992 to May 1995. He was admired by all political parties for his determination and political skills. He was instrumental in several massive infrastructure projects in Kerala which includes the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (Kochi) and the Cochin International Airport. These were sanctioned during his last stint as Chief Minister of Kerala from 1992 to 1995. In his honour, a pavilion in the Cochin stadium is named after him.

Thalassery Assembly Constituency of Kerala Legislative Assembly consist of Thalassery Municipality and Chockli, Eranholi, Kadirur, New Mahe and Panniyannur Panchayats. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan(Minister for Home and Tourism) is representing this constituency from 2001. M V Rajagopalan elected in by election in 1979 and again in 1980 in general election. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan got married his daughter Vinodini in 1980. Rajagopalan known as Raju master in Kannur Dist. In 1981 he was brutally attacked by RSS and undergone treatment for one year. later he backed up from active politics. And died in 1986. His wife Seethalakshmi and have six children. Niyamasabha Mandiram seat of the Kerala State Legislative Assembly

The Niyamasabha Mandiram, located in Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram, is the seat of the Kerala State Legislative Assembly or the Niyamasabha. Built primarily in the classical style of Architecture of Kerala, with strong influences of many contemporary styles, it is a structure with grand staircase, gardens, water bodies and a large Central Assembly Hall. Located in a high security zone, the complex accommodates the residence of the Speaker of the Niyamasabha, legislature offices of all MLAs and offices of independent commissions and bodies. The assembly was opened on 22 May 1998, by the President of India, K. R. Narayanan.

K. Babu Indian politician

K. Babu is an Indian politician and the former Minister for Fisheries, Ports and Excise, Government of Kerala. He is representing the Thripunithura constituency in Kerala after winning in the 2011 State Election. Shri. Babu had been previously elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly as MLA in 1991, 1996, 2001 and 2006. Mr. Babu had to resign his post as minister due to corruption claims against him and the harsh court reference on the case that the investigation against him in this case was purposely slowed down so the minister can serve until the general elections.

K. Avukader Kutty Naha, was an Indian Union Muslim League Leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Kerala. He was born in February 1920 to Shri Kunjikoyanutty Haji. He started his political life after his schooling through Indian Union Muslim League. During the political career, he served as Vice-President, Indian Union Muslim League, Kerala State Committee, and President, Kerala State Swathanthra Thozhilali Union. He had been elected also as a member of the Malabar District Board in 1954. Mr. Naha is the father of the former Kerala Education Minister P. K. Abdu Rabb.

Chembakasseril Balakrishna Warrier Chandrasekhara Warrier was an Indian political leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and a member of Kerala Legislative Assembly for 12 years. Known to the political circle as C. B. C., he was elected as a Member of Legislative Assembly in 4th and 6th term of Kerala State Legislative Assembly. K.V.Kunhiraman was born on 13 February 1961 at Uduma in Kasaragode District as the son of Shri K Appukkan and Smt. K V Chirutha. He studied till Pre-Degree and entered politics and become a political and social worker. He studied up to 10th standard in GHSS Uduma and Pre-Degree in Kasaragode Govt. College. He entered politics through Bala Sangam while he was a student. He was the joint secretary of Hosdurg Taluk Balam Sangam committee. He became the president and secretary of Uduma area S.F.I committee. Then he became the president of S.F.I Kasaragode District committee. During the period of 1980-87 he became the member of S.F.I Kerala state committee. He also became the president and secretary of DYFI Uduma block committee and district committee. Then he became the member of DYFI state executive committee. He was also the Secretary of BalaSangam Rakhshathikari Samithi.

Thomas Kallampally Indian politician

Thomas Kallampally was a notable politician and educationist from Kanjirappally, Kerala. He was born in Kanjirappally. He started Netaji Vayanasaala a library for the youth at Anakkal, Kanjirappally at the age of 18. He was elected as the State General Secretary of Kerala Students Congress, the students wing of Kerala Congress while doing his Law Degree at Government Law College, Ernakulam. He also served as the PTA president of St Antony's Public school from its inception till his demise. Kallampally was also a member of Center for Human Resourced Development of State of Kerala and Kerala State Pollution Control Board. He was also a lead campaign manager for the Kerala Congress for various Lok Sabha elections. Kallampally holds the record of the second youngest MLA in the history of Kerala Legislative Assembly having elected to the Assembly at the age of 26.

K. Sivadasan Nair is a member of 13th Kerala Legislative Assembly. He belongs to Indian National Congress party and represents Aranmula constituency. He was previously elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly in 2006.

K. K. Jayachandran is the member of 13th Kerala Legislative Assembly. He belongs to Communist Party of India (Marxist) and represents Udumbanchola constituency. He was previously elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly in 2001 and 2006.
