The foreign relations of South Africa have spanned from the country's time as a Dominion of the British Empire to its isolationist policies under apartheid to its position as a responsible international actor taking a key role in Africa, particularly Southern Africa. South Africa is a member of the United Nations, the African Union and the Commonwealth of Nations. Considered a possible permanent addition to the United Nations Security Council, South Africa was elected in 2006, 2010 and 2018 by the UN General Assembly to serve on the Security Council. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa was the chair of the African Union from 2020 to 2021, the second time South Africa has chaired the organisation since its formation in 2003.
Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa is a South African businessman and politician serving as the 5th and current president of South Africa since 2018. A former anti-apartheid activist and trade union leader, Ramaphosa is also the president (leader) of the African National Congress (ANC).
The Public Protector in South Africa is one of six independent state institutions set up by the country's Constitution to support and defend democracy.

Rosemary Nokuzola Capa, also known as Zoleka Capa, is a South African politician who is currently serving as Deputy Minister of Agriculture since June 2024. She previously served as Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Land Reform since August 2021 to June 2024. She was Deputy Minister of Small Business Development from May 2019 to August 2021. A member of the African National Congress, she has been a Member of the National Assembly since May 2014. From June 2014 to May 2019, she was the chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Social Development.

Nokuzola Gladys Tolashe, also known as Sisisi "Sisi" Tolashe, is a South African politician from the Eastern Cape. She is the current Minister of Social Development since June 2024. She was also elected as president of the African National Congress (ANC) Women's League in July 2023. In government, Tolashe was the Deputy Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities from March 2023 to 30 June 2024.
Maropene Ramokgopa is a South African politician who has been the Minister in the Presidency Responsible for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation since March 2023. She has been a Member of the National Assembly since February 2023 and the Second Deputy Secretary-General of the African National Congress (ANC) since December 2022. She is also the coordinator of the interim task team that was appointed in June 2022 to lead the ANC Women's League.
