Ålborg Municipality is a municipality in North Jutland Region on the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark. The municipality straddles the Limfjord, the waterway which connects the North Sea and the Kattegat east-to-west, and which separates the main body of the Jutland peninsula from the island of Vendsyssel-Thy north-to-south. It has a land area of 1,143.99 km2 (441.70 sq mi) and a population of 223,174.
The Nordic Council is the official body for formal inter-parliamentary Nordic cooperation among the Nordic countries. Formed in 1952, it has 87 representatives from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden as well as from the autonomous areas of the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland. The representatives are members of parliament in their respective countries or areas and are elected by those parliaments. The Council holds ordinary sessions each year in October/November and usually one extra session per year with a specific theme. The council's official languages are Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, Norwegian, and Swedish, though it uses only the mutually intelligible Scandinavian languages—Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish—as its working languages. These three comprise the first language of around 80% of the region's population and are learned as a second or foreign language by the remaining 20%.
Gladsaxe Municipality is a municipality near Copenhagen in Region Hovedstaden on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 25 km2 (10 sq mi), and has a total population of 70,600 (2024). Its mayor is Trine Græse, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party.
Herlev Municipality is a municipality in the northwestern suburbs of Copenhagen, Capital Region, Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 12 km², and has a total population of 29,876. Its mayor is Thomas Gyldal Petersen, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The former village Herlev is the largest settlement of the municipal and the site of the municipal council. It is best known for being the site of Herlev Hospital.
Esbjerg Municipality is a kommune in the Region of Southern Denmark on the west coast of the Jutland peninsula in southwest Denmark. Its mayor is Jesper Frost Rasmussen, from the Venstre political party. By 1 January 2007, the old Esbjerg municipality was, as the result of Kommunalreformen, merged with the former Bramming and Ribe and a small part of Helle municipalities to form the new Esbjerg municipality. This municipality has an area of 741 km2 and a total population of 115,423 (2024).
Herning Municipality is a municipality in Region Midtjylland on the Jutland peninsula in western Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 1,322.87 km2 (510.76 sq mi) and has a population of 89,848. Its mayor is Dorte West, a member of the Venstre political party.
Holstebro Municipality is a municipality in Region Midtjylland on the Jutland peninsula in west Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 801.55 km2 (309.48 sq mi), and has a population of 59,016. Its mayor is H. C. Østerby, a member of the Social Democratic party.
Fredericia Municipality is a kommune on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in south-central Denmark. It belongs to the Region of Southern Denmark, covers an area of 134.46 km2, and has a total population of 52,485 (2024). The Mayor is Steen Wrist, representing the Social Democrats political party.
Frederikshavn Municipality is the northernmost Danish municipality, located in Region Nordjylland.
Foreningen Norden, Föreningen Norden (Swedish), Norræna félagið (Icelandic), Norrøna Felagið (Faroese), Peqatigiiffik Nunat Avannarliit (Greenlandic) and Pohjola-Norden (Finnish), The Norden Associations, sometimes referred to as The Nordic Associations are non-governmental organisations in the Nordic countries promoting civil cooperation between the Nordic countries. Established since 1919, there are Norden Associations in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Greenland, the Faroe Islands and Åland. Since 1965 these national branches are grouped in an umbrella organisation Foreningene Nordens Forbund (FNF), The Confederation of Norden Associations. The co-operation between the Nordic countries include projects such as Nordjobb, Nordic Library Week and Norden at the Cinema.
Sigulda Municipality is a municipality in Vidzeme, Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2003 by merging Sigulda town, Sigulda Parish and More Parish. In 2009 it absorbed Allaži parish, too; the administrative centre being Sigulda. The population in 2020 was 17,992.
