The Akita derby is a commonly occurring football fixture in Japan. The game takes place between the teams in Akita Prefecture; Blaublitz Akita, Saruta Kogyo, Akita FC Cambiare, TDK Shinwakai, Hokuto Bank SC, Akita University Medical FC and so on.

The 2024 Emperor's Cup prefectural qualifiers were a series of tournaments whose each prefectural champions granted qualification for the 2024 Emperor's Cup, the main football cup competition in Japan. It is the 28th time that (amateur) teams qualify for the Emperor's Cup via prefectural tournaments, as before the 1996 Emperor's Cup, the lower ranked teams in the competition qualified to it via regional qualification. On 2024, the competition continues to be restricted to Type 1 teams, with Type 2 teams blocked from participating.
