Uplift North Hills Preparatory is a branch school from Uplift Education, located in Irving, Texas. The school is an International Baccalaureate school. The school's mascot is a Panther. North Hills is ranked #31 within the state of Texas, and #194 in national rankings. [2] Uplift North Hills was also in the top 3% of all elementary schools in Texas. [3]
North Hills Preparatory was first established in 1997; Uplift North Hills is the oldest school in the Uplift network and is on the grounds of a former equestrian center. [4] The school has consistently been named as one of the top schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, and was the first school in the network to award an International Baccalaureate Diploma. [5] North Hills, including the other Uplift Education school branches received the National Recognition by Jay Matthews Challenge Index. [6]
Out of 325 other charter schools in the state of Texas, Uplift North Hills is ranked 4th overall. The school is also ranked #17 out of 1,534 schools in terms of the best college prep public high schools in Texas, and raked #34 out of 1,421 in terms of the best high schools for STEM programs. In terms of reading proficiency, North Hills sits at 92%, while for math, it sits at 67%. The average SAT score is 1350 with the average ACT score being 29. In terms of AP Exams Enrollment, it sits at a nice 81%. The school offers seven AP courses and has an AP Exam passing rate of 72%. [7] It's rated as the best charter high schools in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area as of 2025. [8]
According to the student demographics, North Hills Preparatory is predominantly Asian, with the percentage being 64.3%, 19.7% of the students are Hispanic, 7.8% of the students are white, 5.5% being black, 2.5% of the students being two or more races, and lastly, 0.2% of the students being Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander. As one of the few members of this partnership. North Hills was able to produce very exceptional productions from students for the annual science fair. Throughout their partnership tenure, a young primary girl from North from North Hills won UT Southwestern STARS Award and first place in the primary school division. While another young girl won the UTSW Award and 1st place for the middle school division. [10]
North Hills provides students with a list of activities to join from, the school as Varsity, and Junior Varsity basketball, cross country, and volleyball (strictly for girls only). Outside of those three sports, North Hills also offers Varsity golf (Strictly for boys), and soccer for everybody. [11]
Despite having very little funding and coming from a small school, North Hills was able to produce exceptional Robotics students during their tenure as a school. In 2014, North Hills students placed fourth internationally at the MIT Robotics competition, marking it a historic moment for not just the students, but for the school as well. [12] The Dallas Morning News claimed how the students find challenges and joy in Robotics.
Two rising seniors from North Hills Preparatory were members of the Dallas Rowing Club at Bachman Lake Park. Those two members, surprisingly enough, were brothers, according to NBC DFW were two of the nine athletes who qualified recently to compete in the U.S. Rowing Youth National Championships in Sarasota, Florida.
