Mizoram is a state in northeast India, with Aizawl as its seat of government and capital city. The name of the state is derived from "Mizo", the self-described name of the native inhabitants, and "Ram", which in the Mizo language means "land." Thus "Mizo-ram" means "land of the Mizos". Within India's northeast region, it is the southernmost landlocked state, sharing borders with three of the Seven Sister States, namely Tripura, Assam and Manipur. The state also shares a 722-kilometre (449 mi) border with the neighbouring countries of Bangladesh and Myanmar.

The Mizo National Front uprising was a revolt against the government of India aimed at establishing a sovereign nation state for the Mizo people, which started on 28 February 1966. On 1 March 1966, the Mizo National Front (MNF) made a declaration of independence, after launching coordinated attacks on the Government offices and security forces post in different parts of the Mizo district in Assam. The government retaliated and recaptured all the places seized by the MNF by 25 March 1966.
Education in Mizoram consists of a diverse array of formal education systems ranging from elementary to university, from training institution to technical courses. The Government of India imposes mandatory education at least up to the basic level. For this public schools are made free of fees, and provided with free textbooks and school lunch.
Lunglei Government College is the biggest college in the town of Lunglei, Mizoram. It is graded B++ by NAAC. Talks are underway now with UGC to set up Mizoram University campus in Lunglei Government College campus, thus making it a constituent college of Mizoram University like Pachhunga University College. The College has 1250 students and 63 Faculty.
Government J. Buana College is a college in the town of Lunglei, Mizoram. It is accredited with a B Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. It has 582 students and 40 faculty members.
Mizoram is a state in the northeast of India. Mizoram is considered by many as a beautiful place due to its dramatic landscape and pleasant climate. There have been many attempts to increase revenue through tourism but many potential tourists find the lack of amenities to be a hurdle. However, the State continues to promote itself and many projects have been initiated. The tourism ministry continues to maintain or upgrade its tourist lodges throughout the state. Foreign tourists are required to obtain an 'inner line permit' under the special permit before visiting. The permit can be obtained from Indian missions abroad for a limited number of days or direct from Mizoram Government authorities within India. The state is rich in bird diversity, which has the potentiality to make it a major birding destination. Mizoram is a stronghold for Mrs. Hume's pheasant. There is also a rare record of the wild water buffalo from the state. There are several past records of the Sumatran rhinoceros from Mizoram, then Lushai Hills. The small population of wild elephants can be seen in Ngengpui and Dampa Sanctuaries. Some of the interesting sites are Mizo Poets' Square also known as Mizo Hlakungpui Mual in Mizo, the Great Megaliths locally known as 'Kawtchhuah Ropui'.

Sabarimala International Greenfield Airport, is a proposed greenfield international airport, which will serve the city of Kottayam and the pilgrimage site of Sabarimala in the state of Kerala, India. The airport will be built in between the towns of Erumeli South and Manimala. The nearest town with a railway station is Thiruvalla (34 km). The proposed site is 53.9 km away from Sabarimala temple, 9.2 km away from Kanjirappally town and 9 km away from Ranni town. The site is located at about 40 km from the city of Kottayam. The site is spread over 2,570 acres (10.4 km2) of area. It is 136 km from the state capital, Thiruvananthapuram, and 113 km from Kochi. Once commissioned,this would be the fifth airport in the state.
Sports in Mizoram plays an important part of the culture of Mizoram and it plays a key role in development of the state. Football, Basketball and Volleyball are the more popular sports in the Indian state of Mizoram
Mizoram Engineering College is the only engineering college in the town of Lunglei, Mizoram.
Hnahthial district is one of the eleven districts of Mizoram state in India. The creation of Hnahthial District was first notified on 12 September 2008 but until 2020, it remained non-functional despite a number of promises made by top political leaders and an all-out effort by Hnahthial District Function Demand Committee to let the state government make it functional. Hnahthial district was made functional only 12 years later on 3 June 2019 with the creation of the office of the Deputy Commissioner.
The Lunglei Municipal Council is the municipal body which governs and maintains the town of Lunglei in the Indian state of Mizoram. Lunglei is the second populous urban settlement in the state after the Capital city of Aizawl.
