The movie also catapulted fellow dwarf David Rappaport to international fame. "He was a good little actor and went to America on the strength of Time Bandits." Baker blames Rappaport's suicide on Hollywood's indifference to serious dwarf actors: "Poor David couldn't cope with it."
Sammy Davis Jr., a versatile performer and dynamic singer, dancer and actor who overcame extraordinary obstacles to become a leading American entertainer, died of throat cancer yesterday at his home in Los Angeles. he was 64 years old and had been in deteriorating health since his release from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on March 13.
