The 2021 Delta State local elections were held on March 6, 2021 to elect 25 local government chairmen and 500 local government councillors in all 25 local government areas; it is the first election to be held using new electoral wards after the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission created 34 new wards in December 2020. Party primaries were held from December 7 to December 31, 2020 with January 1, 2021 starting the general election campaign. [1] As in the 2018 elections, the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party won all 25 chairmanship and 500 councillorship seats. The main opposition, the Delta State All Progressives Congress announced a boycott of the elections on election day due to alleged irregularities. [2]
On election day, voting was peaceful according to Delta State Independent Electoral Commission Chairman Mike Ogbodu but concerns over low turnout and underage voting were raised immediately. However, an APC councillorship nominee in Oshimili North LGA claimed that he had won his election before the results were changed in favor of the PDP nominee. DSIEC Director of Public Affairs Arubi Orugboh did not respond to reporter queries on the claims. [3]

The 2015 Kaduna State gubernatorial election occurred on April 11, 2015. Nasir el-Rufai of the APC took a clear lead against the incumbent governor and PDP, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero candidate in the election. The APC candidate won in 17 LGAs, while the PDP claimed the other six.
The 2019 Delta State gubernatorial election occurred on March 9, 2019. Incumbent PDP Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa won re-election for a second term, defeating APC's Great Ovedje Ogboru, and several minor party candidates.
The 2019 Cross River State gubernatorial election occurred on March 9, 2019. Incumbent PDP Governor Benedict Ayade won re-election for a second term, defeating APC's John Owan Enoh, and several minor party candidates.
The 2021 Anambra State gubernatorial election took place on November 6, 2021, to elect the Governor of Anambra State. Incumbent APGA Governor Willie Obiano was term-limited and could not seek re-election to a third consecutive term. APGA nominee, former Central Bank Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, retained the office for APGA with a 24% win over PDP nominee, former Transcorp CEO Valentine Ozigbo.
The 2022 Osun State gubernatorial election will take place on July 16, 2022, to elect the governor of Osun State. Incumbent APC Governor Gboyega Oyetola is eligible for reelection and his official campaign announcement is pending. The primaries are scheduled for between February 16 and March 12.
The 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial elections will be held for state governors in 30 out of 36 Nigerian states. All but two will be held in the early spring while the Kogi State and Bayelsa State elections will both be held in the autumn. The last regular gubernatorial elections for all states were in 2019. All states have a two term limit for Governors which makes 18 incumbent governors ineligible for re-election.
The 2023 Abia State gubernatorial election will take place in early 2023, to elect the Governor of Abia State. Incumbent PDP Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term. The primaries will be scheduled for late 2022 or early 2023.
The 2023 Adamawa State gubernatorial election will take place in early 2023, to elect the Governor of Adamawa State. Incumbent PDP Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is eligible to run for re-election, but has not yet stated whether he will do so. The primaries will be scheduled for late 2022 or early 2023.
The 2023 Cross River State gubernatorial election will take place in early 2023, to elect the governor of Cross River State. Incumbent APC Governor Benedict Ayade is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term. The primaries will be scheduled for late 2022 or early 2023.

The 2021 Kano local elections were held on January 16, 2021, to elect 44 local government chairmen and 484 local government councillors in all 44 local government areas. As in the 2018 elections, the Kano All Progressives Congress won all 44 chairmanship and 484 councillorship seats.
The 2023 Lagos State gubernatorial election will take place in early 2023, to elect the Governor of Lagos State. Incumbent APC Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is eligible to run for re-election, but has not yet stated whether he will do so. The primaries will be scheduled for late 2022 or early 2023.
The 2023 Niger State gubernatorial election will take place in early 2023, to elect the governor of Niger State. Incumbent APC Governor Abubakar Sani Bello is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term. The primaries will be scheduled for late 2022 or early 2023.
The 2023 Ogun State gubernatorial election will take place in early 2023, to elect the governor of Ogun State. Incumbent APC Governor Dapo Abiodun is eligible to run for re-election, but has not yet stated whether he will do so. The primaries will be scheduled for late 2022 or early 2023.
The 2023 Oyo State gubernatorial election will take place in early 2023, to elect the Governor of Oyo State. Incumbent PDP Governor Seyi Makinde is eligible to run for re-election, but has not yet stated whether he will do so. The primaries will be scheduled for late 2022 or early 2023.
The 2023 Plateau State gubernatorial election will take place in early 2023, to elect the Governor of Plateau State. Incumbent APC Governor Simon Lalong is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term. The primaries will be scheduled for late 2022 or early 2023.
The 2023 Taraba State gubernatorial election will take place in early 2023, to elect the Governor of Taraba State. Incumbent PDP Governor Darius Ishaku is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term. The primaries will be scheduled for late 2022 or early 2023.
The 2021 Yobe State local elections were held on February 27, 2021, to elect 17 local government chairmen and 178 local government councillors in all 17 local government areas. As in the 2017 elections, the Yobe All Progressives Congress won all 17 chairmanship and 178 councillorship seats.
The 2023 Bayelsa State gubernatorial election will take place in late 2023, to elect the Governor of Bayelsa State. Incumbent PDP Governor Douye Diri is eligible to run for re-election, but has not yet stated whether he will do so. The primaries will be scheduled for late 2022 or early 2023.
