The 2021 Yobe State local elections were held on February 27, 2021, to elect 17 local government chairmen and 178 local government councillors in all 17 local government areas. As in the 2017 elections, [1] the Yobe All Progressives Congress won all 17 chairmanship and 178 councillorship seats. [2] [3]

Over one million voters were registered for the election in 1,714 polling units; voting in multiple units had to be relocated due to insecurity. [4] [5] In total, 6 parties participated in the councillorship elections after multiple parties withdrew, [6] although only the APC contested the chairmanship elections. On election day, voting was peaceful with voters, journalists, and Governor Mai Mala Buni reporting high voter turnout. [7] Buni swore in the elected Chairmen on March 3, 2021. [8]

The 2019 Jigawa State gubernatorial election occurred on March 9, 2019. Incumbent APC Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar won re-election for a second term, defeating Aminu Ibrahim Ringim of the PDP and several minor party candidates.

The 2019 Gombe State gubernatorial election occurred in Nigeria on 9 March 2019, the APC nominee Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya won the election, defeating Usman Bayero Nafada of the PDP. Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya emerged APC gubernatorial candidate after scoring 859 votes and defeating his closest rival, Mohammed Jibrin Barde who received 463 votes. He picked Manasseh Daniel Jatau as his running mate.

The 2015 Kwara State gubernatorial election occurred in Nigeria on April 12, 2015. Incumbent APC Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed won re-election for a second term, defeating PDP Simon Ajibola and 15 other party candidates.

The 2022 Osun State gubernatorial election took place on 16 July 2022, to elect the governor of Osun State. Incumbent All Progressives Congress Governor Gboyega Oyetola was eligible for re-election but lost by a 3.5% margin to former Senator Ademola Adeleke—the nominee of the Peoples Democratic Party. Adeleke and his running mate, Kola Adewusi, were inaugurated on 27 November. However, the Election Petition Tribunal overturned the result on 27 January 2023, awarding the win to Oyetola; Adeleke immediately appealed the ruling and remains in office pending the results of further litigation.

The 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial elections were held for state governors in 31 out of 36 Nigerian states. All but three elections were held on 18 March—concurrent with elections to every state house of assembly, three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections—while the Imo State, Kogi State, and Bayelsa State elections will be held on 11 November. The last regular gubernatorial elections for all states were in 2019. All states have a two term limit for Governors which makes 18 incumbent governors ineligible for re-election.

The 2021 Kano local elections were held on January 16, 2021, to elect 44 local government chairmen and 484 local government councillors in all 44 local government areas. As in the 2018 elections, the Kano All Progressives Congress won all 44 chairmanship and 484 councillorship seats.

The 2023 Niger State gubernatorial election was held on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Niger State, concurrent with elections to the Niger State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election — which was postponed from its original 11 March date — will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Abubakar Sani Bello was term-limited and could not seek re-election to a third term. Mohammed Umar Bago — House of Representatives member for Chanchaga — retained the office for the APC by a margin of 9.4% over former commissioner Isah Liman Kantigi, the PDP nominee.

The 2023 Yobe State gubernatorial election took place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Yobe State, concurrent with elections to the Yobe State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election — which was postponed from its original 11 March date — was held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Mai Mala Buni won re-election to a second term, defeating former Bade Local Government Chairman Sharif Abdullahi (PDP) by a margin of 43%.

The 2021 Delta State local elections were held on March 6, 2021 to elect 25 local government chairmen and 500 local government councillors in all 25 local government areas; it is the first election to be held using new electoral wards after the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission created 34 new wards in December 2020. Party primaries were held from December 7 to December 31, 2020 with January 1, 2021 starting the general election campaign. As in the 2018 elections, the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party won all 25 chairmanship and 500 councillorship seats. The main opposition, the Delta State All Progressives Congress announced a boycott of the elections on election day due to alleged irregularities.

Elections were held throughout Nigeria throughout 2022. During the year, the governors of Ekiti and Osun states were elected on 18 June and 16 July, respectively. Additionally, there were also elections to fill vacant seats in the House of Representatives and state houses of assembly along with local elections in Adamawa State, Benue State, Edo State, Enugu State, the Federal Capital Territory, Imo State, Katsina State, and Kebbi State.

The 2023 Yobe State House of Assembly election took place on 18 March 2023, to elect members of the Yobe State House of Assembly. The election was held concurrent with the state gubernatorial election as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. It was held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections.
