Upon the opening of the 9th State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa (APC-Agege I) was elected as Speaker of the House while Wasiu Sanni (APC-Lagos Island I) and Agunbiade Sanai (APC-Ikorodu I) became Deputy Speaker and House Leader, respectively. [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] [13]

Lagos State is a state in South West, Nigeria. Of the 36 Nigerian states, Lagos is the second most populous state but the smallest in terms of land mass. The university was established during the administration of Late Lateef Kayode Jakande. The university offers diploma, degree and post graduate programmes, including an MBA programme. The speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly is the presiding officer of the Lagos State House of Assembly, elected by its membership. The Speaker is second in line of succession to the Lagos State governorship, after the deputy governor. The Speaker also represents the members of his or her constituency. Since inauguration of the state house of assembly on 2 October 1979, there have been 10 legislative assemblies with 8 representatives holding the office of Speaker. The current Speaker is Mojisola Meranda who was elected on 13 January 2025, following the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa.

Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa is a Nigerian lawyer and politician who served as speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly from June 2015 to January 2025.

The 8th Lagos State House of Assembly is the legislative branch of the Lagos State Government inaugurated on June 8, 2015. The assembly will run its course till June 3, 2019. The assembly is unicameral with 41 representatives elected from each constituencies of the state. The incumbent Speaker of the 8th Legislative Assembly is Rt. Hon Mudashiru Obasa and the Deputy speaker is Hon. Eshinloku Sanni. The election of representative for the 8th legislative assembly was held on April 28, 2015.

An election for Governor of Lagos State took place on 11 April 2015. All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Akinwunmi Ambode, who is a former accountant general of Lagos State, defeated People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Jimi Agbaje and Alliance for Democracy (AD) candidate Bolaji Ogunseye. The governor and deputy governor are elected on the same ticket.

The 2023 Lagos State gubernatorial election was held on 18 March 2023 to elect the Governor of Lagos State, concurrent with elections to the Lagos State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election — which was postponed from its original 11 March date — was held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was re-elected by a margin of 39% over first runner-up and LP nominee — Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.

Fatai Mojeed Adebola is Nigerian politician. He currently serves as the State Representatives representing Ibeju Lekki I constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda is a Nigerian politician and the current Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. She has been the lawmaker representing Apapa I constituency since June 2015. Meranda was sworn in as speaker on 13 January 2025 following the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa over allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
