The 2015 Oyo State gubernatorial election occurred in Nigeria on April 11, 2015. APC candidate Abiola Ajimobi won the re-election after defeating Rasheed Ladoja of Accord. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

Abiola Ajimobi emerged APC gubernatorial candidate after scoring 4,662 votes and defeating 3 other candidates: Ayobami Adesina, son of former governor of the state, Alhaji Lam Adesina, Adebayo Shittu who is a former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General in the state. Rasheed Ladoja was the Accord candidate. [6] [7] [8]

Rasheed Ladoja won the primary election polling 1,692 votes as the sole candidate. [13]

The 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial elections will be held for state governors in 31 out of 36 Nigerian states. All but three elections will be held on 18 March—concurrent with elections to every state house of assembly, two weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections—while the Imo State, Kogi State, and Bayelsa State elections will be held on 11 November. The last regular gubernatorial elections for all states were in 2019. All states have a two term limit for Governors which makes 18 incumbent governors ineligible for re-election.

The election will be held two weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Seyi Makinde is running for re-election and has been renominated by his party.
