Local elections in Enugu State were held on 23 February 2022. [1] The Peoples Democratic Party won control of all 17 councils in the state. [2]

Chimaroke Nnamani is a Nigerian medical doctor and politician from Enugu State. He was elected Governor of Enugu State in the 1999 Enugu State gubernatorial election from 1999 to 2007. He subsequently served as a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator for Enugu East Senatorial District from 2007 to 2011 and was re-elected in 2019.

Ike Ekweremadu is a Nigerian politician and a lawyer who hails from Enugu State and served in the Senate of Nigeria for Enugu West from 3 June 2003 to 5 May 2023. He is a member of the People's Democratic Party, and was the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate for three (3) consecutive senate. On 23 June 2022, Ekweremadu and his wife were charged in the UK with conspiring to arrange the travel of a 21 year old into the UK in order to harvest organs. He was found guilty on 23 March 2023 at the Old Bailey. On 5 May 2023, he was sentenced to nine years and eight months imprisonment.

The 2023 Enugu State gubernatorial election took place on 18th March 2023, to elect the Governor of Enugu State, concurrent with elections to the Enugu State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election — which was postponed from its original 11 March date — was held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was term-limited and could seek re-election to a third term. Former commissioner Peter Mbah retained the governorship for the PDP by a margin of less than 1% — 3,343 votes — over the first runner-up, LP nominee Chijioke Edeoga.

Elections were held throughout Nigeria throughout 2022. During the year, the governors of Ekiti and Osun states were elected on 18 June and 16 July, respectively. Additionally, there were also elections to fill vacant seats in the House of Representatives and state houses of assembly along with local elections in Adamawa State, Benue State, Edo State, Enugu State, the Federal Capital Territory, Imo State, Katsina State, and Kebbi State.

The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Enugu State will be held on 25 February 2023, to elect the 3 federal Senators from Enugu State, one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election, as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives; with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.

He was the acting national chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Nigeria. He is the National Deputy Chairman (South), Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Nigeria. Ezeh was Senatorial Candidate under Labour Party, Enugu West, during the 2011 Nigerian Senate elections in Enugu State, and also Senatorial Candidate under the All Progressives Congress party, Enugu West, during the 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Enugu State. He was awarded "honorary professor" by the Academic Council of the International Personnel Academy, Kiev- Ukraine on May 17, 2010.
