Jammu & Kashmir International Cricket Stadium was a proposed cricket stadium in Baljata, Jammu & Kashmir. [1] Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah proposed a cricket stadium at Bajalta near Jammu in 2012 as the site was inspected by Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association for stadium, cricket academy and hostel. [2] In July 2013, Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association mess hampered dream project for construction of International Cricket Stadium due to lack of interest from the board. [3] [4]

The Police Stadium is a cricket ground in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, India. The first recorded match on the ground came when Himachal Pradesh Under-19s played Haryana Under-19s in 1995. The ground held its first first-class match in December 1995 when Himachal Pradesh played Jammu and Kashmir in the 1995/96 Ranji Trophy. The following season a further first-class match was held when Himachal Pradesh played Haryana in the 1996/97 Ranji Trophy. Three List A matches have also been held on the ground, with the first coming in the 1995/96 Ranji Trophy one-day competition when Himachal Pradesh played Jammu and Kashmir. No further major matches have been staged there.

She scored an unbeaten 44 runs for the LIC Chandigarh XI Cricket team against the Sri Lanka XI Cricket team in the final of the T20 Queens XI Cricket League. Akhtar has represented the Punjab Cricket Team since 2013 in the women's national level cricket tournaments organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. She became the first woman cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to be selected for the India women's national cricket team. In January 2019, she was named in India Red's team for the 2018–19 Senior Women's Challenger Trophy. Jasia Akhtar was part of the IPL Trailblazers team in Women's T20 Challenge led by Smriti Mandhana in 2019.
Popular sports in Jammu and Kashmir include cricket, football and winter sports along with sports like golf, water sports, Ice stock sport and adventure sports. The National Winter Games have been held in Gulmarg in 1996, 2004 and 2008. The first Khelo India Winter Games were held in February and March 2020 in Leh and Gulmarg. Jammu and Kashmir won the most gold medals while the Indian Army team came second with 8 gold medals. The second edition of the winter games were also held successfully in Gulmarg in 2020 with Jammu and Kashmir coming first and Karnataka second.

The Army sponsors the teams, and provides cricket kits and refreshments. The purpose of the Kashmir Premier League is to build bridges between Kashmiris and Indian Army men. The league is the brainchild of Group Officer Commanding (GOC) of XV Corps, Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain. The T20 cricket tournament is part of the Indian Army's Operation Sadhbhavana.
The Kashmir Premier League is a professional Twenty20 cricket league founded in 2021. The league consists of six franchises; five teams representing the five major cities in Azad Kashmir, while one team is representing the overseas Kashmiris. The teams play in a single round-robin tournament with the top four teams qualify for the playoffs and ultimately for the final. In August 2021, it was announced that matches in the Kashmir Premier League do not have official T20 status.
