KELT-20, also known as MASCARA-2, is an A2 main sequence star in the constellation of Cygnus, about 447 light years away.
KELT-20 is the star's KELT designation. It is also designated as MASCARA-2 meaning that it is the second star observed by the MASCARA exoplanet search program. Its Henry Draper Catalogue designation is HD 185603, and its Hipparcos designation is HIP 96618.
In 2017, the discovery of the planet KELT-20b was announced. [6] [7] [8]

HD 101930, also known as Gliese 3683, is an orange hued star with an orbiting exoplanet located in the southern constellation Centaurus. It has an apparent magnitude of 8.21, making it faintly visible in binoculars but not to the naked eye. The system is located relatively close at a distance of 98 light years but is receding with a heliocentric radial velocity of 18.4 km/s. It has a relatively large proper motion, traversing the celestial sphere with an angular velocity of 0.320″·yr−1.
HD 63454, formally named Ceibo, is a star located in the southern circumpolar constellation Chamaeleon near the border with Mensa. To see the star, one needs a small telescope because it has an apparent magnitude of 9.36, which is below the limit for naked eye visibility. The object is located relatively close at a distance of 123 light years based on Gaia DR3 parallax measurements but is receding with a heliocentric radial velocity of 33.8 km/s. At its current distance, HD 63454's brightness is diminished by two tenths of a magnitude due to interstellar dust. It has an absolute magnitude of +6.68.
HD 33463 is a suspected variable star in the northern constellation of Auriga, about 1,050 light years away. It is a red giant star with a stellar classification of M2III, and has expanded away from the main sequence after exhausting its core hydrogen. It has reached 133 times the size of the Sun and, at an effective temperature of 3,753 K it shines at a bolometric luminosity of 2,114 L☉.
HAT-P-23 is a G-type main-sequence star 1192 light-years away. It has a rapid rotation for its advanced age of 4 billion years, and exhibits a strong starspot activity. The star may be in the process of being spun up by the giant planet on close orbit. The star is enriched in heavy elements, having about 140% amount of metals compared to solar abundance.
HAT-P-18 is a K-type main-sequence star about 530 light-years away. The star is very old and has a concentration of heavy elements similar to solar abundance. A survey in 2015 detected very strong starspot activity on HAT-P-18.
BD-07 436, also known as WASP-77 since 2012, is a binary star system about 344 light-years away. The star's components appears to have a different age, with the secondary older than 9 billion years, while the primary's age is 5 billion years. The BD-07 436 system's concentration of heavy elements is similar to the Sun. Its stars display moderate chromospheric activity, including x-ray flares.
HD 108236 is a G-type main-sequence star. Its surface temperature is 5660±61 K. HD 108236 is severely depleted in heavy elements compared to the Sun, with a metallicity Fe/H index of −0.28±0.04, and is probably older than the Sun at an age of 6.7+3.3
−3.4 billion years.
KELT-1 is a F-type main-sequence star. Its surface temperature is 6518±50 K. It is similar to the Sun in its concentration of heavy elements, with a metallicity Fe/H index of 0.008±0.073, but is much younger at an age of 1.75±0.25 billion years. The star is rotating very rapidly.
HAT-P-41 is a binary star system. Its primary is a F-type main-sequence star. Its surface temperature is 6390±100 K. compared to the Sun, HAT-P-41 is enriched in heavy elements, with a metallicity Fe/H index of 0.21±0.10, but is much younger at an age of 2.2±0.4 billion years.
WASP-80 is a K-type main-sequence star about 162 light-years away from Earth. The star's age is much younger than the Sun's at 1.352±0.222 billion years. WASP-80 could be similar to the Sun in concentration of heavy elements, although this measurement is highly uncertain.
KELT-6b is an exoplanet orbiting the F-type subgiant KELT-6 approximately 791 light years away in the northern constellation Coma Berenices. It was discovered in 2013 using the transit method, and was announced in 2014.
CD−34°8618, also known as KELT-13 or WASP-167, is a yellowish-white hued star located in the southern constellation of Centaurus. It has an apparent magnitude of 10.52, making it readily visible in medium sized telescopes, but not to the naked eye. Based on parallax measurements from the Gaia spacecraft, the object is estimated to be approximately 1,350 light years away from the Solar System. It appears to be drifting closer to it, having a radial velocity of −0.53 km/s.
HD 191220, also known as HR 7698, is a solitary white hued star located in the southern circumpolar constellation Octans. It has an apparent magnitude of 6.14, placing it near the limit for naked eye visibility. The object is located relatively close at a distance of 245 light years based on Gaia DR3 parallax measurements but is slowly receding with a heliocentric radial velocity of 0.1 km/s. At its current distance, HD 191220's brightness is diminished by 0.22 magnitudes due to interstellar dust.
KELT-20b, also known as MASCARA-2b, was an exoplanet announced in 2017. It is an Ultra-hot Jupiter orbiting an A-type star. The carbon monoxide, steam and neutral iron detection in the atmosphere of KELT-20b was announced in 2022.
HD 201585 is a star located in the equatorial constellation Equuleus. It has an apparent magnitude of 8.23, making it readily visible in small telescopes but not to the naked eye. Gaia DR3 parallax measurements imply a distance of 594 light-years and it is currently receding with a heliocentric radial velocity of 14 km/s. At its current distance, HD 201585's brightness is diminished by three-tenths of a magnitudes due to interstellar extinction and it has an absolute magnitude of +1.81. HD 201585 is the star's Henry Draper Catalogue designation. It is also designated as MASCARA-1 meaning that it is the first star observed by the MASCARA exoplanet search program.
