Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology formally Ondo State University of Science and Technology is a state owned university located in Okitipupa, Ondo State, Nigeria. It was established in 2008 by the Ondo State Government under the leadership of Dr. Olusegun Agagu. [1] The university commenced academic activities in January 2011, and currently offers various programmes of study under the Faculty of Science, Faculty of Agriculture & Agricultural Technology and Faculty of Engineering and Engineering Technology.
The university was renamed after late former governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Agagu in 2020 in recognition of his immense role in the establishment of the institution. [2]
In December 2020, the Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu approved the appointment of Prof. Temi Emmanuel Ologunorisa as the next Vice Chancellor of the university, which took effect from 23 February 2022. [3]
On March 1, 2011, the library opened at the mini-campus with a collection of more than 850 volumes of current books. In 2017, it relocated to its current location along Igbokoda road. Some donors and Books2Africa, a UK charity organization donated 40,000 volumes of books to Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, Ondo State in 2020, the library collection has grown to 47,965 volumes of books with other pertinent information materials. The central library and the school libraries are allowed to buy at least four copies of a given title under the library's acquisition policy. Bequests and donations are evaluated before acceptance.
Current books, periodicals, monographs, reference materials, annual reports, and other materials are all included in their holdings. Students and staff at the university make up their main target audience. The community at large, as well as their nearby sister institutions, use the library as a resource for information acquisition. It is required that all legitimate library customers sign up and provide their pass when requested. [4]
On December 1, 2021, Ondo state governor Rotimi Akeredolu appointed Prof. Temi Emmanuel Ologunorisa as the fourth substantive Vice-Chancellor of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa. The effect of the vice chancellor took effect from the month of February 2022. [5]

The university emerged 9th in the National University Commission (NUC) ranking as one of the best 10 state-owned universities in Nigeria in 2021. [7]

Olusegun Kokumo Agagu ; 16 February 1948 – 13 September 2013) was a Nigerian politician who was governor of Ondo State in Nigeria from 29 May 2003 until February 2009, when a court voided his re-election as governor on account of electoral irregularities. He was replaced as governor by Olusegun Mimiko, his political rival, based on a court injunction. He was a member of the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) is a federal university in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. The university was founded in 1961 and classes commenced in October 1962 as the University of Ife by the regional government of Western Nigeria, which was led by Samuel Ladoke Akintola. It was renamed "Obafemi Awolowo University" on 12 May 1987, so by the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida led military administration, in honour of Obafemi Awolowo (1909–1987), the first premier of the Western Region of Nigeria, who initially thought of the idea of establishing the university.

University of Ilorin, also known as Unilorin, is a federal government-owned university in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. The university sits on an expansive area of land, about 15,000 hectares in the ancient city of Ilorin; making it the largest university in Nigeria and one of the largest in Africa by landmass. Olusegun Rahman Mimiko ; born 3 October 1954), is a Nigerian medical doctor and politician who served as governor of Ondo State from 2009 to 2017. He was the senatorial candidate of the Zenith Labour Party for Ondo Central District in the 2019 Senate elections. He served as the 16th and fifth civilian governor of Ondo State, the first two-term governor of Ondo State, and the first Labour Party governor in Nigeria. Mimiko was previously a federal minister for housing and urban development, a secretary to the Ondo State Government, and a two-time Ondo State Commissioner for Health.

Temi E. Ologunorisa is a Nigerian climate scientist. He served as Professor of Meteorology and Climate Science at the Federal University of Technology in Akure, Ondo State, Niger since 2016. He also teaches geography as an adjunct professor at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, and Kansas City Kansas Community College in Kansas, both in the United States. He formerly served as the executive director of the Center for Black Culture and International Understanding, an organization connected with UNESCO, in Osogbo, Nigeria (2015–2016), where concerns of black empowerment and diaspora studies take center stage. He is also serving has the Current Vice Chancellor at Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, Nigeria.
