The 2017 St. Louis mayoral election was held on April 4, 2017, to elect the mayor of St. Louis, Missouri. Incumbent Mayor Francis Slay chose not to run for reelection. Slay, who was serving his fourth term as mayor, indicated in March 2016 that he would run for reelection, [2] but announced in April 2016 that he would not run for a fifth term. [3] Primary elections took place on March 7, 2017, and the general election was held on April 4. Alderwoman Lyda Krewson was elected and became the first female Mayor of St. Louis. [4]

The mayor of St. Louis is the chief executive officer of St. Louis's city government. The mayor has a duty to enforce city ordinances and the power to either approve or veto city ordinances passed by the Board of Aldermen. The current mayor is Tishaura Jones, who took office on April 20, 2021.

Lewis E. Reed is an American politician from St. Louis, Missouri. His last position was president of its Board of Aldermen which he held for record duration of 15 years. He was federally indicted on bribery charges in May 2022 and resigned his at large board position in June. In August 2022, Reed pled guilty to bribery charges.
Jeffrey Roorda is an American politician. He was a Democratic member of the Missouri House of Representatives, serving from 2005 to 2010 and again from 2013 to 2015. Roorda ran for the Missouri Senate in District 22 in 2014, but he was defeated by Paul Wieland, a Republican from Imperial. A former police officer, he is also the executive director and business manager of the St. Louis Police Officers Association (SLPOA). SLPOA is Lodge #68 of the Fraternal Order of Police, covering the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD).

Incumbent Republican Governor Mike Parson ran for and was elected to a full term in office. Parson was elected as lieutenant governor in 2016 but became governor on June 1, 2018, after incumbent Eric Greitens resigned under threat of impeachment by the state legislature. Parson declared his bid for a full term on September 8, 2019. State Auditor Nicole Galloway, Missouri's only Democratic statewide officer and only female statewide officer, was the Democratic nominee and if elected, would have become Missouri's first female governor.
Citypark, is a 22,500-seat soccer-specific stadium under construction in St. Louis, Missouri. It is the future home of St. Louis City SC, the city's expansion Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise. The stadium is being built next to Union Station in the city's Downtown West neighborhood, and is scheduled to be completed by the start of the 2023 MLS season.
Lyda Krewson is an American retired politician who was the 46th mayor of St. Louis, Missouri. She is a member of the Democratic Party and St. Louis's first female mayor, serving from 2017 to 2021. On November 18, 2020, Krewson announced that she would not seek a second term.
Anthony Lamar Smith was a 24-year-old African American man from St. Louis, Missouri, who was shot and killed by then St. Louis Police officer Jason Stockley following a car chase on December 20, 2011. On September 15, 2017, Stockley was found not guilty of first-degree murder, and protests erupted in St. Louis.
Beginning on the afternoon of September 15, 2017, a series of protests took place in St. Louis, Missouri, following the acquittal of former St. Louis police officer Jason Stockley in the shooting of Anthony Lamar Smith, a black man. Over 160 people were arrested during the first three days of demonstrations, with largely peaceful protests. There has been significant criticism around the police and governmental response to protests, resulting in lawsuits from the ACLU.

On March 8, 2021, Blunt announced that he would not seek reelection to a third term in office.
Cara Spencer is American politician from the state of Missouri. She has served on the Board of Aldermen of the City of St. Louis representing Ward 20 since 2015. Spencer ran in the 2021 St. Louis mayoral election, finishing as a top-two candidate in the primary election. She lost in the general election to Tishaura Jones.

The electoral history of Tishaura Jones spans more than a decade. A member of the Democratic Party, Jones was first elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 2008. In 2012, she was elected as Treasurer of St. Louis, a position she has since held through various elections and primaries. Jones ran for Mayor of St. Louis in 2017, but came in second to Lyda Krewson in the Democratic primary; Krewson would later win the general election and become the city's first female mayor. In 2020, following her election to a third term as treasurer, Jones announced she would once again run for mayor in the 2021 election, which was the city's first to use approval voting. Jones won that election over St. Louis Alderwoman Cara Spencer and will be the 47th Mayor of St. Louis.
Megan Ellyia Green is an American politician and educator from St. Louis, Missouri. Since 2014, she has represented Ward 15 on the St. Louis Board of Aldermen. Green is a progressive Democrat and a member of Democratic Socialists of America.
