Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is a government owned steel producer based in New Delhi, India. It is under the ownership of Ministry of Steel, Government of India with an annual turnover of INR 68,452 Crore for fiscal year 2020–21. Incorporated on 24 January 1973, SAIL has 63,433 employees. With an annual production of 16.30 million metric tons, SAIL is the 20th largest steel producer in the world and the largest in India. The Hot Metal production capacity of the company will further increase and is expected to reach a level of 50 million tonnes per annum by 2025. Smt Soma Mondal is the current Chairman of SAIL.

The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) is under the ownership of Indian Railways, Ministry of Railways, Government of India with the responsibility to undertake planning, development, and mobilisation of financial resources and construction, maintenance and operation of the "Dedicated Freight Corridors" (DFC). The DFCCIL was registered as a company under the Companies Act 1956 in 2006. First 2 DFCs, Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), from Dadri in Uttar Pradesh to JNPT in Mumbai and Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC), Ludhiana in Punjab to Dankuni in West Bengal, which will decongest railway network by moving 70% of India's goods train to these two corridors, are both on track for completion by June 2022. 99% required land for these two have been acquired, and 56% of WDFC and 60% of EDFC is complete as of July 2020.

A government-owned enterprise, a government-owned corporation, a statutory corporation and a nationalised company in India is called a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) or a Public Sector Enterprise. These establishments are wholly or partly owned by the government of India or one of the many state or territorial governments or both together in parts. Gazetted officers work as officers in these entities and their subsidiaries. The employees subordinate to the officers working for these respective entities and their subsidiaries are full-fledged government employees. The majority of stocks of these establishments are owned by the government. These are classified as Central Public Sector Undertaking, which are wholly or partly owned by government of India or State Level Public Sector Undertaking, which are wholly or partly owned by state or territorial governments.
The Steel Consumers Council is a group under the Ministry of Steel, chaired by the Cabinet in charge of the Department. India is the world’s third-largest producer of crude steel, and the Council works with steel producers to ensure both the supply and demand of the steel industry. It also advises the Ministry of Steel and assists the Government of India on matters and policies concerning the Indian steel industry. In 2004, alarmed by the recent rise in steel prices, the Union Steel Ministry had proposed setting up of an independent regulator to monitor and fix the prices of steel. It had also supported a demand to abolish the present 5 per cent import duty on scrap this was announced by Ram Vilas Paswan Minister in charge of Ministry of Steel at the 18th national Steel consumers council in 2004.
