The Passenger Amenities Committee (PAC) is a statutory Organization body under the Ministry of Railways (India), Government of India. [1] It is tasked with grievances of passengers for the ease of railway transport in India. PAC is considered to be one of the classical organizational network for smooth functioning of railways in India.

Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station, commonly known as the Chennai Central, is the main railway terminus in the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is the busiest railway station in South India and one of the most important hubs in the country. It is connected to Moore Market Complex railway station, Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central metro station, Chennai Park railway station, Park Town railway station and is 2 km from Chennai Egmore railway station. The terminus connects the city to northern India, including Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi and Ahmedabad as well as to Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Hyderabad and different parts of Kerala.

Pallavan Superfast Express

Pallavan Superfast Express is a superfast service operated by the Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. This service connects the cities of Chennai to Karaikudi via Tiruchirappalli in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. This train is having more popularity among the passengers even after introducing new trains like Tejas Express in that route. PALLAVAN SUEPRFAST EXPRESS along with Vaigai Superfast Express are POPULAR and WON THE HEARTS OF THE PEOPLE AMONG GENERATIONS. This train was upgraded to brand new modern LHB rakes from 30 June 2019.

High-speed rail (HSR) in India is currently under construction and the country does not have high-speed rail corridors, or lines operating at over 200 km/h (120 mph) currently under UIC definition. However, a total of twelve corridors are planned and one of the corridor which links Mumbai and Ahmedabad is under construction. As of 2021, the fastest train of India is Vande Bharat Express with a top speed of 180 km/h (110 mph) which it attained during a trial run. While the fastest operating train is Gatimaan Express with a top operating speed of 160 km/h (99 mph).

Tambaram railway station

Tambaram is one of the railway terminal of the Chennai Beach–Tambaram section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. It is situated at a distance of 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) from the centre of Tambaram. It is situated in South Chennai and located 27 kilometres (17 mi) from broadway. It is one of the fastest growing railway hubs outside Chennai Central in the southern direction. Everyday, on an average, around 3,50,000 commuters use the station. About 500 suburban electric trains operate from Tambaram, including those between Chennai Beach and Chengalpattu and Kancheepuram. Further, more than 25 expresses, including those bound for Howrah and other places in the north pass through the town. It is also third busiest station in the city. The daily ticket sales at Tambaram fetch 1 million, half of which comes from suburban travellers. It is the second most revenue-generating station in Chennai after Moore Market Complex. A total of 52 trains pass through the station.

The Nellore train fire occurred on 30 July 2012, when the Chennai-bound Tamil Nadu Express train caught fire at 4:22 am near Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, India. At least 32 passengers died and 27 were injured. The fire gutted the S-11 sleeper coach in 20 minutes. A railway emergency crew prevented the fire from spreading to the other coaches.

Silambu Express

The Silambu Express (16181/16182) is a train that runs between Chennai Egmore and Sengottai via Karaikkudi Junction. Initially with an LHB rake, it now runs with an ICF rake, with recently added Utkrist coaches. It is one of the only 2 express trains running on the Manamadurai–Virudhunagar line, the other being the Puducherry–Kanniyakumari Weekly Express, and the only one operated until Chennai. The train runs from Chennai to Sengottai on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, and from Sengottai to Chennai on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

The 2014 Chennai train bombing is the explosion of two low-intensity bombs on the early hours of 1 May 2014 in a Guwahati-bound train from Bangalore arriving at the Chennai Central railway station, killing one female passenger and injuring at least fourteen others.

Hariharan Raja Sharma also known as H. Raja is an Indian politician. He started his political-social life as an Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh promoter. He was a MLA representing the Karaikudi constituency in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 2001 to 2006. He was one of the national secretaries of the Bharatiya Janata Party from 2014 to 2020.

Tejas Express

The Tejas Express is India's first semi-high speed fully air-conditioned train Introduced by Indian Railways. It features modern onboard facilities with doors which are operated automatically. Tejas means "sharp", "lustre" and "brilliance" in many Indian languages. It is one of 3 semi-high speed trains running in India, the others being the Vande Bharat Express and the Gatimaan Express. Currently four trains are running.
