Freetown is an unincorporated hamlet in the Town of East Hampton, NY, settled in the 19th century by free people of African and Native American descent, as well as people of European descent. Freetown retained its multicultural character throughout the 20th century, evolving into a largely working-class neighborhood occupied by East Hampton's labor force. During the 2010s and 2020s, surviving historic properties in Freetown are increasingly threatened by demolition and intensive redevelopment to make way for luxury real estate and other out-of-scale and out-of-character new construction.

Steven Christopher Jones is a former Republican politician from the Commonwealth of Virginia. He was elected to Suffolk City Council in 1986 and later to the office of Mayor in 1992 at the age of 36. He is believed to be the youngest Mayor in the history of Suffolk. He was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in November 1997. He represented the 76th district, made up of parts of the cities of Suffolk and Chesapeake. From 2014 until 2019, he chaired the House Appropriations Committee. One of the chief architects of the 2011 redistricting plan that the US Supreme Court ruled in 2019 was unconstitutionally gerrymandered, he lost re-election in November 2019 after his district was redrawn.

Three Hills is a historic home located near Warm Springs, Bath County, Virginia. It was built in 1913, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, frame and stucco Italian Renaissance style dwelling. It consists of a central block with flanking two-story wings and rear additions. The house has a Colonial Revival style interior. The front facade features a single-story, flat-roofed portico. Also on the property are the contributing small formal boxwood garden, three frame and stucco, one-story cottages, and a stone and brick freestanding chimney. Three Hills was built by American novelist and women's rights advocate Mary Johnston (1870-1936), who lived and operated an inn there until her death. J. Ambler Johnston, a young architect, distant relative of the writer and one of the founding partners of the Carneal and Johnston architectural firm, designed the house.
