List of roller derby leagues

This is a list of notable roller derby leagues [note 1] , and may include those that are no longer in existence. Existence dates, where known, are included to provide a timeline charting the sport's growth cycles. The list may currently make distinctions according to each organization's professional/amateur business structure and active/defunct status, and is subdivided by gender (female or male-only, or co-ed) and age (adult versus junior). Within each subcategory, leagues are then listed according to region, by country and city. Countries with larger numbers of leagues, such as the United States and Canada, are further subdivided by state and province.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Roller derby in the United States</span>

The growing popularity of roller skating in the United States led to the formation of organized multi-day endurance races for cash prizes as early as the mid-1880s. Speed and endurance races continued to be held on both flat and banked tracks in the century's first three decades and spectators enjoyed the spills and falls of the skaters. The term "roller derby" was used to refer to such races by 1922.

By September 2011, there were more than 1,000 amateur roller derby leagues, covering every inhabited continent, with teams in countries such as Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Germany, Belgium, Finland, Sweden and Singapore In the UK, the sport is mostly played by women.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Roller derby in Canada</span>

Canadian roller derby leagues at one point were welcomed to join the Canadian Women's Flat Track Roller Derby Association, which in January 2012 renamed itself the Roller Derby Association of Canada. The Toronto Roller Derby League is the largest flat-track derby league in Canada. Many roller derby leagues enjoy support from their national skate federations, including Roller Sports Canada.

Sioux Falls Roller Dollz (SFRD) is a women's flat track roller derby league based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Founded in 2006, the league currently consists of two teams, and two mixed teams which compete against teams from other leagues. Sioux Falls is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).

The Des Moines Derby Dames (D3) was a women's flat-track roller derby league based in Des Moines, Iowa. The league was founded in 2009 and was the second roller derby league in the Des Moines area. The Des Moines Derby Dames was a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). The league ceased operations at the end of 2014.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Akron Roller Derby</span> Flat track roller derby league

Akron Roller Derby is a women's flat track roller derby league based in Akron, Ohio. Two separate Akron-based leagues, NEO Roller Derby and Rubber City Rollergirls, merged in November 2016 to become Akron Roller Derby. The league consists of two teams which compete against teams from other leagues, and is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).

Wollongong Illawarra Roller Derby (WIRD) is a women's flat track roller derby league based in New South Wales, Australia. Founded by the referee Sintax in January 2009, it consisted of two home teams, the Vipers and Vixens, plus a mixed travel team. From January 2013 the league pared back to two teams, an A- and B-level travel team known as the Steel City Derby Dolls.

The Women's Flat Track Derby Association Division 3 was the third level of play in women's flat track roller derby, from 2013 through 2014.
