The following events occurred in March 1927:
GLACE BAY, N. S., March 26, 1927.— Fire started by an electric iron in a tailor's shop threatened to wipe out the entire business section of Glace Bay today, destroyed ten wooden buildings and did damage estimated at $350,000. The places destroyed include... the Savoy Building, including Savoy Theatre,
Savoy Theatre burned - The Savoy Theatre, seating 1200, one of the finest amusement places in the Maritimes, was reduced to a smouldering heap of ruins. This building was valued at $65,000. The loss is quite a heavy one to John Connor, manager and owner, who had about $25,000 insurance.
