Rutland Township is located in LaSalle County, Illinois. As of the 2010 census, its population was 3,698 and it contained 1,627 housing units. [2] Rutland Township changed its name from Trenton Township in May, 1850.

According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 35.69 square miles (92.4 km2), of which 34.99 square miles (90.6 km2) (or 98.04%) is land and 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2) (or 1.96%) is water. [2]
