TLC India is an Indian television channel, previously known as Discovery Travel & Living operated by Discovery Networks Asia Pacific. It focuses on lifestyle programmes, with topics such health, cooking and travel.


The channel launched in October 2004 and was the first international channel launched under the "Discovery Travel & Living" name. [1]

The channel features both original productions and imported programmes. The first local original production for the channel was The Great Indian Wedding . [2] The series was produced by Blue Mango Films, a leading non-fiction film company in India. Following its success, the channel has started offering more Indian programming.

On 1 September 2010 Discovery Travel & Living India became TLC. [3] TLC's HD feed was launched on 2 June 2014. [4]

Discovery Travel & Living was a European television channel broadcasting to several countries in Europe. Much of the schedule was taken up by programmes about real estate, most notably A Place in the Sun and its spinoffs, as well as House Doctor.

Discovery Channel India is the Indian version of Discovery Channel operated by Discovery Networks Asia Pacific for the Indian subcontinent. It is available in eight languages. The channel can be viewed on digital cable and satellite television in India. The Discovery has a separate dedicated channel in Tamil Language Discovery Tamil. The Discovery Channel has also launched its OTT services Discovery Plus recently.

TLC (Latin American TV channel)

TLC is a television channel broadcasting to several countries in Latin America. It was originally known as Discovery Travel & Adventure Channel and featured more adventure-related programmes. On February 1, 2005, the channel changed its name to Discovery Travel & Living and changed to lifestyle programming about travel, food, design, architecture and luxury. In November 1, 2011, it was relaunched as "TLC: Travel & Living Channel" as part of the international roll-out of the TLC brand and the premiere of additional programming. In late 2012, "Travel & Living Channel" was dropped from the channel's name and replaced with the Discovery logo on the channel's logo.

Zindagi was the first Indian general entertainment online channel, owned by the Zee Entertainment Enterprises (ZEEL). It also promoted itself as a television channel broadcasting short-run programming and as India's new Hindi entertainment channel, rather than on-going, indefinite serials. Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific Pte. Ltd. is a subsidiary of Discovery, Inc. that operates several television channels in Asia and Australasia, along with the Discovery+ streaming service which is currently only available in India.
