The 1999 Italian local elections were held on 13 June and 27 June. [1]

Contents

In Sicily the elections were also held on 28 November (first round) and 12 December (second round).

In Trentino-Alto Adige the elections were held on 16 May (first round) and 30 May (second round).

The elections were overall won by The Olive Tree coalition, with 21 municipalities won out of 32 and 46 provinces out of 67.

The Italian Democratic Socialists was a social-democratic political party in Italy. The party was the direct continuation of the Italian Socialists, the legal successor of the historical Italian Socialist Party. Bush was re-elected in a landslide over 4-term Democratic Texas Land Commissioner Garry Mauro, winning 68% of the vote to Mauro's 31%. Bush carried 239 counties, while Mauro carried just 15. Exit polls revealed that Bush won 27% of the African-American vote, which was the highest percentage for any Republican statewide candidate, and 49% of the Latino vote. Bush was sworn in for a second term as governor on January 19, 1999.
