Dholera International Airport( IATA : none, ICAO : none) is an under-construction international airport and a greenfield airport, which will serve the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) in Gujarat, India. It is being built near Navagam in the Dholera taluka of Ahmedabad district. The project site is spread over 1,426 hectares [2] about 80 km (50 mi) from Ahmedabad and around 20 km (12 mi) from the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR). [3] 75 hectares of government land has been allocated for commercial development. [4]
The airport would serve the logistics requirements of the DSIR, which is planned as a huge industrial township in the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project, [5] as well as to relieve congestion of the existing Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport serving the cities of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat. It is expected to be commissioned by December 2025. [6]
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) inspected the site in January 2010 to carry out a techno-economical feasibility study [7] and gave its technical clearance the following month. [8] The project received "site clearance" from the central government in July 2014. [9] The Environment Ministry gave its approval in December 2015. [10]
Dholera International Airport Company Ltd (DIACL) was set up in 2012 by the State Government of Gujarat as a special-purpose vehicle to develop the airport. The Airports Authority of India picked up a 51% stake in DIACL in 2018. Following this, the Gujarat government holding dropped to 33% while the remaining 16% is held by the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC). [11]
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the State Government in January 2019 for the construction of airport. [12] [13] In 2021, the Airport Authority of India released a Rs. 987 crore tender for Phase 1 of airport project. [4] Phase 1 civil works involved construction of the airport’s infrastructure including a 3,200 metre long runway suitable for 4E category aircraft, taxiways, aprons and road network. The contract was awarded to Jodhpur-based Varaha Infrastructure in June 2021 which was the lowest bidder at 636.45 crores. [14]
In June 2022, the Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the development of Phase I at an estimated cost of Rs. 1305 crore, to be completed within 48 months. [15]
In January 2024, DIACL awarded a Rs 333 crore EPC contract to Ahmedabad-based Yashnand Engineers and Contractors. The scope of the contract includes the construction of a new integrated passenger terminal building, ATC tower, cargo complex, and environmental support services (ESS) among others, with a construction deadline of 18 months. Vijayapura Airport Proposed to be named as Jagatjyoti Shri Basaveshwar Airport, Vijayapura is an under-construction greenfield airport that will serve the city of Vijayapura in Karnataka, India. The airport is being built by the Karnataka State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (KSIIDC) at a cost of Rs 220 crore. The project site is located 15 km from the city on 727-acre (2.94 km2) of land in Madhabavi, located outside the city premises. The airport was expected to be ready by early 2023, but this has been pushed back to February 2024.

Donyi Polo Airport, also known as Hollongi Airport, is a domestic airport serving Itanagar, the capital city of Arunachal Pradesh, India. It is located at Hollongi, situated 14 km (8.7 mi) south from the city centre, in the Papum Pare district. It is built by the Airports Authority of India, over an area of 320 hectares. The airport is the 16th airport of Northeast India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the airport on 9 February 2019. Construction was started on 15 December 2020, and was inaugurated on 19 November 2022, with flight services started by IndiGo to Kolkata and Mumbai from 28 November 2022.
GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport is an international airport and a greenfield airport under construction at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district, about 40 kilometres (25 mi) north-east of Visakhapatnam.
Manohar International Airport, is an international airport at Mopa in Pernem Taluka, North Goa district in the state of Goa, India. It serves North Goa and the adjoining districts of Karnataka and Maharashtra, and as a second airport of Goa after Dabolim Airport in Dabolim. On an average, the airport handles around 100 aircraft movements and about 15,000 passengers daily. It is the fifteenth busiest airport in India. The airport is developed by GMR Goa International Airport Limited (GGIAL), a special purpose vehicle (SPV). It is built at a cost of ₹3,000 crore. The airport is built under the Build Operate Transfer (BOT) model in four phases, with the first phase costing a total of ₹1,500 crore. In financial year 2023-24, the airport handled over 4.4 million passengers, which is close to its current maximum capacity of 4.5 million passengers per year. It is named after the former Minister of Defence and the former Chief Minister of Goa, Manohar Parrikar.
Rajkot International Airport is an international airport and a greenfield airport at Hirasar, Gujarat, India, serving the city of Rajkot and the Saurashtra region. It is located near the National Highway 8B (NH-8B) connecting Ahmedabad and Rajkot. It has a single runway for the operation of ‘C’ category aircraft. The airport was developed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at a cost of ₹2,654 crore (US$330 million). The foundation stone for the construction of the airport was laid on 7 October 2017, and was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 27 July 2023, which was previously expected to be done on 31 December 2023.
The Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is a 1,350 km long, 8-lane wide under-construction access-controlled expressway connecting India's national capital New Delhi to its financial capital Mumbai. The foundation stone for the project was laid by union minister Nitin Gadkari in the presence of Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley on 8 March 2019 and is inaugurated by PM Modi. The total project value including the land acquisition cost is around ₹1,00,000 crores .
Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway is a 109 km (68 mi) long, four-lane wide access-controlled under-construction expressway in Gujarat, India. It will connect Sardar Patel Ring Road near Sarkhej in Ahmedabad with Adhelai village in Bhavnagar district via Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR). The proposed Dholera International Airport near Navagam, about 20 km (12 mi) from Dholera SIR will also lie in the route.
Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) is a greenfield industrial planned city near Dholera in Gujarat's Ahmedabad district, around 100 kilometers to the south-west. spread over more than 920 km2 it is a new industrial city being jointly developed by the Government of India and Gujarat. Dholera is strategically located, well connected with trade gateways and falls in the influence zone of proposed Delhi – Mumbai Industrial Corridor project (DMIC), a joint initiative by the Government of India and Japan.
Kota Greenfield Airport is a proposed airport, planned to be built at Shambupura village in Bundi district, approximately 15 kilometres from Kota and 20 kilometres from Bundi, in Rajasthan, India. The airport will be built by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The airport site is within 10 kilometres of the Chambal Ghariyal wildlife sanctuary and within 10 kilometres of the Mukundara Hills National Park. The proposed airport falls in the notified buffer area of Ramgarh Vishdhari Wildlife Sanctuary and will use 466 hectares of forest land.
