Dyke Acland Bay (previously: Acland Bay) is an Arctic waterway in Qikiqtaaluk Region, Nunavut, Canada. Located off southern Bathurst Island, the bay is an arm of Parry Channel.

It is named after Sir Thomas Dyke Acland, 10th Baronet. [1]

Sir Charles Thomas Dyke Acland, 12th Baronet, DL, JP, of Killerton in Devon and of Holnicote in the parish of Selworthy in Somerset, was a large landowner and a British politician and Barrister-at-Law. He was known to family and friends as "Charlie", but demanded to be known in public as "Sir Thomas", not only because that was the traditional name of the Aclands, there having been a "Sir Thomas Acland" at Killerton for 170 years, but also because following the creation of a second and much newer Acland Baronetcy in 1890, for his uncle Sir Henry Wentworth Acland, 1st Baronet, he wished people to know "which was the real head and owner of Killerton".

The Dyke Baronetcy, of Horeham in the County of Sussex, is a title in the Baronetage of England. It was created on 3 March 1677 for Thomas Dyke, Commissioner of Public Accounts and Member of Parliament for Sussex and East Grinstead. The 2nd Baronet married Anne Hart, daughter and heiress of Percival Hart. In 1836 the 5th Baronet unsuccessfully claimed the barony of Braye, of which peerage he was a co-heir through the Hart family. The 7th Baronet was a successful Conservative politician. Percyvall Hart Dyke (1872–1952), grandson of Reverend Thomas Hart Dyke, second son of the 5th Baronet, was a Colonel in the Indian Army. Sir Thomas Dyke Acland, 7th Baronet of Killerton in Devon and Petherton Park in Somerset, was Member of Parliament for Devon, 1746–1747, for Somerset, 1767–1768, and was High Sheriff of Somerset in 1751. He was a prominent member of the West Country gentry, and a famous staghunter who used as his hunting seats his wife's Exmoor estates of Pixton and Holnicote.

John Barton Arundel Acland, often referred to as J. B. A. Acland, was born in Devon, England, as the youngest child of Sir Thomas Dyke Acland, 10th Baronet. He followed his father's path of education and became a barrister in London. With his colleague and friend Charles George Tripp, he formed the plan to emigrate to Canterbury, New Zealand, to take up sheep farming. They were the first to take up land in the Canterbury high country for this purpose. When they divided their land into separate holdings, Acland kept the 100,000 acres (400 km2) that made up the Mount Peel station.
