The European Cup Winners Cup Club Championship was a championship tournament between national club cup winners for men's softball teams in Europe, governed by the European Softball Federation. If a cup tournament was not held the tournament was also open for the runner up of the national championship. After the 2011 season, the ESF Cup Winners Cup merged with the ESF European Cup to form the European Men's Super Cup Championship. From 2012 the Super Cup is the only European championship for club teams.

Softball in Ireland is governed by Softball Ireland, itself a member of the International Softball Federation. As of 2021, the Softball Ireland website noted that there were approximately 800 softball players and 40 teams in the country.
The World Baseball Softball Confederation Europe, known as WBSC Europe, was established on February 10, 2018, during a Congress of the Confederation of European Baseball and the European Softball Federation in Val d’Europe, France. the establishment of WBSC Europe followed the historic merger of the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) and the European Softball Federation (ESF). As of September 2022, WBSC Europe counts 40 members for baseball and 39 for softball.

The 2012 ESF men's Super Cup club championships was an international softball competition for men's fastpitch being held at Eagles Park and Svoboda Park in Prague, Czech Republic from August 27 to September 1, 2012. The Super Cup was a new edition of the ESF Men's European Cup, merging the old European Cup with the ESF Cup Winners Cup. The teams first competed in pool play, with the top 8 teams qualifying for the Super Cup, and the bottom 8 teams playing for the ESF Challenge Cup. After pool play, the setup for both the Super Cup and the Challenge Cup was a double elimination knockout system. In the end, the Hørsholm Hurricanes won the first Super Cup title.

It was featured by the top 6 nations of the 2016 European Championship and ESF Women's Championship.
