Hollyvilla is located in southwestern Jefferson County 12 miles (19 km) south of downtown Louisville. 890-foot (270 m) Holsclaw Hill rises just south of the city limits.

The racial makeup of the city was 97.71% White, 0.83% African American, 0.42% from other races, and 1.04% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.62% of the population.
There were 194 households, out of which 28.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.4% were married couples living together, 9.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.7% were non-families. 18.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
