Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd is the Indian subsidiary of Nissan Motor Company of Japan. [4]
Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd (NMIPL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nissan Motor Co. Ltd Japan. The company was incorporated in 2005 and offers hatchback, MUV, SUV and sedans in India. Nissan in India has a portfolio of two brands, Nissan and Datsun. In February 2008, Nissan, together with its global alliance partner Renault signed a MoU with Government of Tamil Nadu to set up a manufacturing plant at Oragadam, near Chennai with an investment of INR 45 billion over a period of 7 years. On 17 March 2010, the Renault-Nissan alliance plant was inaugurated in a record time of 21 months since its ground breaking ceremony in June 2008.

Datsun was a Japanese automobile manufacturer brand owned by Nissan. Datsun's original production run began in 1931. From 1958 to 1986, only vehicles exported by Nissan were identified as Datsun. Nissan phased out the Datsun brand in March 1986, but relaunched it in June 2013 as the brand for low-cost vehicles manufactured for emerging markets. Nissan considered phasing out the Datsun brand for a second time in 2019 and 2020, eventually discontinuing the struggling brand in April 2022.

At Nissan, Mann was responsible for production, marketing, light commercial vehicles, the global aftersale business, and the relaunch of the Datsun brand. After rising through the ranks, Mann was one of Nissan's longest-serving employees.

Renault and Nissan have been partners since 1999, and Mitsubishi was added to the alliance in 2017. The partnership was not a merger, but instead the companies have cross ownership, a common relationship between companies in Japan.
