Michael Anthony Mauro was the Iowa Secretary of State. He previously served as County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections for Polk County, Iowa for nearly a decade. Mauro is also a former high school government teacher and coach, and is a graduate of Drake University.
Matthew W. "Matt" McCoy is a member of the Board of Supervisors of Polk County, Iowa, representing the fifth district. A member of the Iowa Democratic Party, McCoy served in the Iowa Senate from 1997-2019 and the Iowa House of Representatives from 1993-1997. McCoy was the first openly gay member of the Iowa General Assembly.
The 2008 Indiana gubernatorial election was held on November 4, 2008. Incumbent Republican nominee Mitch Daniels was challenged by Democratic nominee Jill Long Thompson and Libertarian nominee Andy Horning. Daniels easily won reelection, defeating Long Thompson by over 17 points.
