Virginia Beach is an independent city located on the southeastern coast of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 437,994; in 2018, it was estimated to be 450,189. Although mostly suburban in character, it is the most populous city in Virginia and the 44th most populous city in the nation. Georgina is a town in south-central Ontario, and the northernmost municipality in the Regional Municipality of York. The town is bounded to the north by Lake Simcoe. Although incorporated as a town, it operates as a township in which dispersed communities share a common administrative council. The largest communities are Keswick, Sutton and Jackson's Point. Smaller communities include Pefferlaw, Port Bolster, Udora and Willow Beach. The town was formed by the merger of the Village of Sutton, the Township of Georgina and the Township of North Gwillimbury in 1971 and incorporated in 1986. North Gwillimbury had previously been part of Georgina but became its own township in 1826. It took its name from the family of Elizabeth Simcoe, née Gwillim.

The Virginia gubernatorial election of 2005 was a race for the Governor of Virginia, United States, held on November 8, 2005, and won by Democrat Tim Kaine, who was later elected as the junior senator for the state. Virginia is the only state in the United States to prohibit governors from serving successive terms, so the popular incumbent, Mark Warner, could not run for reelection.

2009 Virginia gubernatorial election

The Virginia gubernatorial election of 2009 took place in Virginia on November 3, 2009. The incumbent Governor, Democrat Tim Kaine, was not eligible to run due to term limits established by the Virginia Constitution, though others in the state's executive branch were not restricted. The election elected Republican Bob McDonnell as the next Governor, re-elected Bill Bolling as Lieutenant Governor, and elected Ken Cuccinelli as the next Attorney General of Virginia. The winners were inaugurated on January 16, 2010, and were scheduled to serve until January 11, 2014.

The Virginia lieutenant gubernatorial election of 2017 was held on November 7, 2017. After the party primary elections were held, the major party nominees were Jill Vogel (Republican) and Justin Fairfax (Democrat). The incumbent Lieutenant Governor, Democrat Ralph Northam, declined to run for re-election in order to run for Governor. In the general election on November 7, 2017, Democratic nominee Justin Fairfax defeated Republican state Senator Jill Vogel to become the 41st lieutenant-governor of Virginia.

Robert M. "Bobby" Dyer is an American politician currently serving as the Mayor of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Prior to being elected mayor, Dyer served as a member of the city council for 14 years. Dyer has also been a physical therapist for over 40 years and a professor of government at his alma mater, Regent University. He won the November 2018 election for mayor despite being outraised by his opponent Ben Davenport nearly 5 to 1.
