The Sabine River is a river, 510 miles (820 km) long, in the Southern U.S. states of Texas and Louisiana. In its lower course, it forms part of the boundary between the two states and empties into Sabine Lake, an estuary of the Gulf of Mexico. Over the first half of the 19th century, the river formed part of the Spanish–American, Mexican–American, and Texan–American international boundaries. The upper reaches of the river flow through the prairie country of northeast Texas. Along much of its lower reaches, it flows through the pine forests along the Texas–Louisiana border, and the bayou country near the Gulf Coast.
The Reverend Sabine Baring-Gould of Lew Trenchard in Devon, England, was an Anglican priest, hagiographer, antiquarian, novelist, folk song collector and eclectic scholar. His bibliography consists of more than 1240 publications, though this list continues to grow. His family home, the manor house of Lew Trenchard, near Okehampton, Devon, has been preserved as he had it rebuilt and is now a hotel. He is remembered particularly as a writer of hymns, the best-known being "Onward, Christian Soldiers" and "Now the Day Is Over". He also translated the carol "Gabriel's Message" from the Basque language to English.
Sabine County is a county located on the central eastern border of the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 10,834. Its county seat is Hemphill. The county was organized on December 14, 1837, and named for the Sabine River, which forms its eastern border.

Sabine Glacier is a 13.5 km long glacier on the north side of Detroit Plateau, flowing from Mount Bris and Tsarevets Buttress northwards along the east slopes of Korten Ridge, and terminating at the sea in Jordanoff Bay on Davis Coast in Graham Land, Antarctica. Captain Henry Foster gave the name "Cape Sabine" in 1829 to a feature lying southeast of Cape Kater but it has not been possible to identify that cape. This toponym preserves the early use of Sabine in this area. Sir Edward Sabine (1788-1883), English astronomer and geodesist, was a member of the committee which planned the 1829 voyage of Foster in the Chanticleer.
