Dave Redding (born 13 July 1965) [1] is a British automotive engineer who is currently the team manager of the Williams Formula 1 team. Prior to his transfer to the Grove team, he worked for McLaren's Formula 1 team, as team director. [2]
Redding began his motorsport career in 1988, joining the Benetton team as a junior mechanic before progressing to a more senior role as number-one mechanic to Martin Brundle and Nelson Piquet. He moved to McLaren for 1995 in the same position and then left the team to assist in the formation of the fledging Stewart Grand Prix team as chief mechanic. [3]
In 2000, Redding decided to return to McLaren, this time as part of the engineering department. He began as a systems engineer, before becoming assistant race engineer, then third car engineer, and then team manager after Dave Ryan was sacked in April 2009. He remained in this position during a relatively successful period for the team in which they won numerous races before slowly slipping down the standing from 2013 onwards. [4]
In June 2017 Redding, seeking a new challenge, moved to Williams in an identical position replacing the F1 management bound Steve Nielsen. [5] [6] In his current role as team manager he manages relations with the FIA as well leading garage and logistical operations. [7]
McLaren Racing Limited is a British motor racing team based at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey, England. McLaren is best known as a Formula One constructor, the second oldest active team, and the second most successful Formula One team after Ferrari, having won 183 races, 12 Drivers' Championships and 8 Constructors' Championships. McLaren also has a history of competing in American open wheel racing, as both an entrant and a chassis constructor, and has won the Canadian-American Challenge Cup (Can-Am) sports car racing championship. The team is a subsidiary of the McLaren Group, which owns a majority of the team.
Renault, a French automobile manufacturer, has been associated with Formula One as both team owner and engine manufacturer for various periods since 1977. In 1977, the company entered Formula One as a constructor, introducing the turbo engine to Formula One with its EF1 engine. In 1983, Renault began supplying engines to other teams. Although the Renault team had won races, it withdrew at the end of 1985. Renault engines continued to be raced until 1986.
Fernando Alonso Díaz is a Spanish racing driver currently competing for Aston Martin in Formula One. He won the series' World Drivers' Championship in 2005 and 2006 with Renault, and has also driven for McLaren, Ferrari, and Minardi. With Toyota, Alonso won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice, in 2018 and 2019, and the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2018–19. He also won the 24 Hours of Daytona with Wayne Taylor Racing in 2019.

The Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda has participated in Formula One, as an engine manufacturer and team owner, for various periods since 1964. Honda's involvement in Formula One began with the 1964 season, and in 1965 they achieved their first victory at the Mexican Grand Prix. After further success with John Surtees, Honda withdrew at the end of the 1968 season due to difficulties selling road cars in the United States and Honda driver Jo Schlesser's fatal accident.

Hendrik Johannes Nicasius "Nyck" de Vries is a Dutch racing driver who currently races for Scuderia AlphaTauri in Formula One. Previously, he was the reserve to Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1. He won the 2020–21 Formula E World Championship and the 2019 FIA Formula 2 Championship, as well as the 2010 and 2011 Karting World Championships. He was signed to the McLaren young driver programme from January 2010 until May 2019. De Vries made his Formula One debut in September 2022 for Williams at the 2022 Italian Grand Prix.

He also received the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award that year. He subsequently joined the McLaren Young Driver Programme in 2017 and won the 2017 FIA Formula 3 European Championship, competing with Carlin Motorsport. Consequently, he was promoted to the Formula 2 Carlin team, where he finished second in 2018, competing with Carlin Motorsport. He was then announced as a McLaren driver in 2018, alongside Carlos Sainz Jr. He achieved his first podium in Formula One at the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix and his best finish is second in the 2021 Italian Grand Prix, finishing behind teammate Daniel Ricciardo.
