Bon Jovi is an American rock band formed in 1983 in Sayreville, New Jersey. The band currently consists of singer Jon Bon Jovi, keyboardist David Bryan, drummer Tico Torres, guitarist Phil X, and bassist Hugh McDonald. Original bassist Alec John Such left the band in 1994, and longtime guitarist and co-songwriter Richie Sambora left in 2013. The band has been credited with "bridging the gap between heavy metal, rock and pop with style and ease".

Hard rock or heavy rock is a heavier subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive or declamatory vocals, distorted electric guitars, and dynamic drums. Hard rock began in the mid-1960s with the garage, psychedelic and blues rock movements. Some of the earliest hard rock music was produced by the Kinks, the Who, the Rolling Stones, Cream, Vanilla Fudge, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. In the late 1960s, bands such as Blue Cheer, the Jeff Beck Group, Iron Butterfly, Led Zeppelin, Golden Earring, Steppenwolf, Deep Purple and Grand Funk Railroad also produced hard rock.

John Charles Barrett, known professionally as Desmond Child, is an American songwriter and producer. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2008.

Bruce Earl Fairbairn was a Canadian record producer. He was active as a producer from 1976 to 1999, and is considered one of the best of his era. His most successful productions are Slippery When Wet and New Jersey by Bon Jovi, Permanent Vacation, Pump, and Get a Grip by Aerosmith, The Razors Edge by AC/DC, and Balance by Van Halen, each of which sold at least three million copies. He was originally a trumpet player, then started a career as a record producer for Canadian rock band Prism. Fairbairn won the Canadian music industry Producer of the Year Juno Award three times. He produced albums for many well-known international artists such as Loverboy, Blue Öyster Cult, Bon Jovi, Poison, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Scorpions, Van Halen, Chicago, The Cranberries, INXS, Kiss and Yes. His style was notable for introducing dynamic horn arrangements into rock music productions. Fairbairn died suddenly on May 17, 1999, due to unknown causes.

The Juno Award for International Album of the Year is an annual award given to a non-Canadian album. It has been given out since 1975. It was formerly known as Best Selling Album (Foreign or Domestic) (1993–2002), Best Selling Album by a Foreign Artist (1992), International Album of the Year (1981–1991), and Best Selling International Album (1975–1980). Thus, the rules have changed slightly over the years. (Céline Dion, a Canadian won in 1999, 1997 & 1995 and Bryan Adams, also a Canadian won in 1993.)

American Idol: Greatest Hits was released on iTunes on June 12, 2007. The album was finally released almost a month after the May finale. The album contains 11 cover songs, by the finalists and Jordin Sparks' winning single. The Collector's Edition contains 76 songs and includes cover songs by top 12 and, again, Jordin Sparks' winning single. Neither collection of songs was released as an actual CD but both are available exclusively through the iTunes Store.

These Days Tour was Bon Jovi's concert tour during 1995-96. Van Halen opened as a special guest for Bon Jovi on twenty of the European stadium dates during the second leg promoting their album Balance. The last of the three Wembley Stadium gigs was filmed for the DVD Live From London. The band played 131 shows in 35 countries all across the world. The tour was the first with current bassist Hugh McDonald.

Mike Fraser is a Canadian record producer, engineer, and mixer. Fraser has recorded and mixed six records for AC/DC: The Razors Edge, Ballbreaker, Stiff Upper Lip, Black Ice, Rock or Bust, and Power Up. Fraser recorded and mixed the classic AC/DC anthem "Thunderstruck".

George Marino (1947–2012) was an American mastering engineer known for working on albums by rock bands starting in the late 1960s. Marino mastered and remastered thousands of albums in over forty years. He started his career at Capitol Records and was there from 1967 to 1971, then became a partner in the Record Plant's Master Cutting Room from 1971 to 1973. Marino spent the vast majority of his career mastering at Sterling Sound from 1973 until his death in 2012.
