<span class="mw-page-title-main">Coimbatore</span> City in Tamil Nadu, India

Coimbatore, sometimes shortened as Kovai, is one of the major metropolitan cities in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located on the banks of the Noyyal River and surrounded by the Western Ghats. Coimbatore is the second largest city in Tamil Nadu after Chennai in terms of population and the 16th largest urban agglomeration in India as per the census 2011. It is the administrative capital of Coimbatore District and is administered by the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation which was established in 1981.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Anna University</span> Public state university in Tamil Nadu, India

Anna University is a public state university located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The main campus is in Guindy. It was originally established on 4 September 1978 and is named after C. N. Annadurai, the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Veerappan</span> Indian bandit (1952–2004)

Koose Munusamy Veerappan(Tamil-வீரப்பன்) was an Indian poacher, smuggler, domestic terrorist and bandit who was active for 36 years, and kidnapped major politicians for ransom. He was charged with sandalwood smuggling and poaching of elephants in the scrub lands and forests in the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. He was wanted for killing approximately 184 people, about half of whom were police officers and forest officials. He was also responsible for poaching approximately 500 of the 2000 elephants killed in the peninsular region where he was active and for smuggling ivory worth US$2.6 million and about 65 tons of sandalwood worth approximately US$22 million.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Gobichettipalayam</span> Town in Tamil Nadu, India

Gobichettipalayam is a town and municipality in Erode district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the administrative headquarters of Gobichettipalayam taluk. It is situated at the center of the South Indian Peninsula at 213 metres (699 ft) above sea level, surrounded by Western Ghats. It is located 35 kilometres (22 mi) from the district headquarters Erode, 44 kilometres (27 mi) from Tiruppur and 80 kilometres (50 mi) from Coimbatore. Agriculture and textile industries contribute majorly to the economy of the town.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">R. Sarathkumar</span> Indian actor, politician, filmmaker (born 1954)

Sarathkumar Ramanathan is an Indian actor, politician, filmmaker and former bodybuilder who works predominantly in Tamil cinema in addition to Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films. He has acted in more than 145 films and won two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and three Filmfare Awards South.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Seeman (politician)</span> Indian film director, actor and politician

Senthamizhan Seeman is an Indian film director, actor and politician also the chief-coordinator of the political party Naam Tamilar Katchi in Tamil Nadu. He strongly advocates for regional autonomy and Tamil Nationalism by focusing on the Tamil language, identity, and culture.

<i>Aadukalam</i> 2011 film by Vetrimaaran

Aadukalam is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Vetrimaran, produced by S. Kathiresan and distributed by Sun Pictures. The film stars Dhanush in the lead role, alongside Taapsee Pannu, Kishore, V. I. S. Jayapalan, Naren Narayanan, and Murugadoss. G. V. Prakash Kumar composed the film score and soundtrack.

Ganesan, known professionally as Delhi Ganesh, is an Indian actor who mostly acts in supporting roles in Tamil cinema and serials. He has acted in more than 400 films. Before films, he was a member of the Delhi-based theatre troupe, Dakshina Bharata Nataka Sabha. Ganesh served in the Indian Air Force from 1964 to 1974 before quitting in favour of films. He was given the stage name Delhi Ganesh by K. Balachander.

Arun Vijay, formerly known as Arun Kumar, is an Indian actor who works primarily in Tamil cinema. He also starred in a few films in Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Coimbatore Junction railway station</span> Railway Junction in Coimbatore, India

Coimbatore Junction Railway Station is a railway station located in Coimbatore in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the major rail-head in the city and comes under the jurisdiction of Salem railway division of Southern Railway zone. It is one of the busiest and highest revenue generating stations in India. The station lies on the Jolarpettai–Shoranur main line and has six side platforms.

C. Sylendra Babu is an Indian Police Service Officer who served as the Director General of Police and Head of Police Force, Tamil Nadu Police. He retired on June 30, 2023 and was succeeded by Shankar Jiwal, IPS.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Subaskaran Allirajah</span> British-Sri Lankan entrepreneur and film producer. (born 1972)

Subaskaran Allirajah is a British-Sri Lankan Tamil entrepreneur. He is the founder and chairman of Lycamobile, a telecommunications company. He is also a producer of Tamil films and Hindi Films through his entertainment subsidiary Lyca Productions, based in Chennai, India, and began with its first film Kaththi (2014). It produced the science fiction thriller 2.0 (2018), which was India's most expensive film and the 5th most expensive non-English-language film at the time of its release. Lyca Productions has also produced Ponniyin Selvan: I (2022) and Ponniyin Selvan: II (2023) which are both Tamil cinema releases.

Lyca Productions is an Indian entertainment company, which was established by Subaskaran Allirajah in 2014. A subgroup of Lycamobile, the production studio has been involved in the production and distribution of Tamil films, Hindi films,Telugu films and Malayalam films made in India. It has produced some of Tamil cinema's biggest budget films, such as 2.0 (2018), Ponniyin Selvan: I (2022) and Ponniyin Selvan: II (2023)

<i>Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru</i> 2016 film by Karthick Naren

Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru, also known as D-16, is a 2016 Indian neo-noir crime thriller film written and directed by Karthick Naren, and starring Rahman. Featuring a predominantly new cast and crew, the film features music composed by Jakes Bejoy, cinematography handled by Sujith Sarang and editing done by Sreejith Sarang. Released on 29 December 2016, the film went on to gain positive reviews from film critics as well becoming a sleeper hit and blockbuster. The film was remade in Kannada as Aa Drushya (2019). The film is going to be remade in Hindi with Varun Dhawan in the lead role.

Vanathi Srinivasan (/ʋaːnati/) is an Indian politician and a lawyer. She has practiced law in Madras High Court since 1993. She is a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from Coimbatore South constituency. She currently serves as National President of the Women's Wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party. She is member of Central Election Committee of Bharatiya Janata Party since 2022.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Karthick Naren</span> Indian filmmaker (born 1994)

Karthick Naren is an Indian filmmaker who works in Tamil cinema. Naren broke into the Tamil film industry having had directed several award-winning short films like Pradhi and Nirangal Moondru before his feature film debut. He made his big screen debut through the 2016 film Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru which went on to become a sleeper hit.

<i>Naragasooran</i> Unreleased film directed by Karthick Naren

Naragasooran is an unreleased Indian Tamil-language supernatural horror film written and directed by Karthick Naren. Produced by Badri Kasthuri, it features an ensemble cast led by Aravind Swamy, Shriya Saran, Sundeep Kishan, Indrajith Sukumaran, and Aathmika. It is the second film in Naren's "thriller trilogy", with the first one being Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru, and it also stands as a spin-off of the former.

<i>Mafia: Chapter 1</i> 2020 film by Karthick Naren

Mafia: Chapter 1, known simply as Mafia is a 2020 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Karthick Naren and produced by Allirajah Subaskaran under Lyca Productions. The film stars Arun Vijay in dual role ,Priya Bhavani Shankar and Prasanna in the lead roles. The music was composed by Jakes Bejoy, while cinematography was handled by Gokul Benoy and editing by Sreejith Sarang.

Smruthi Venkat is an Indian actress who appears predominantly in Tamil language films. She made her acting debut with commercially success film Thadam which was released in 2019.

<i>Maaran</i> (2022 film) 2022 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film

Maaran is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language political action thriller film written and directed by Karthick Naren, with the screenplay and dialogues were co-written by Suhas-Sharfu and Vivek. Produced by T. G. Thyagarajan, Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan of Sathya Jyothi Films, the film stars Dhanush, Smruthi Venkat and Malavika Mohanan, with Samuthirakani, Ramki, Mahendran and Krishnakumar Balasubramanian appearing in supporting roles. The music is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, with cinematography handled by Vivekanand Santhosham and editing handled by Prasanna G. K.
