The Red White Cabinet (Indonesian : Kabinet Merah Putih, abbreviated as KMP) is the current Cabinet of Indonesia. It was sworn in on 21 October 2024 by President Prabowo Subianto. [1]

Contents

Although the cabinet was formally activated on 21 October 2024, two Prabowo's cabinet agencies were already appointed and working near the end of Joko Widodo's Onward Indonesia Cabinet. The twelfth reshuffle done on 19 August 2024 already activated the Presidential Communication Office and the National Nutrition Agency. [2]

As of 22 October 2024, with 48 ministers, 55 deputy ministers, and 20 cabinet-level agency officials (totaling 123 appointments), this cabinet so far is the second largest cabinet ever existed in Indonesia history (second to Second Dwikora Cabinet with 132 appointments) and the largest cabinet ever formed in post-Reformasi period.

Nomenclature changes

The Red White cabinet consists of 7 coordinating ministries and 41 technical ministries. Many of those are new ministries split from previous ministries. [3] [4] [5] [6]

The inauguration was held at the Negara Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. The Special Region of Jakarta Act is a law which declared that Jakarta is no longer the capital of Indonesia. Initially, it was expected that Nusantara will officially become Indonesia's new capital beginning on 25 April 2024, but it has since been halted, with Jakarta still being the capital as of October 2024. It is expected when Nusantara becomes the capital city, Jakarta's status as "Special Capital Region" will be revoked. The law will turn Jakarta into a "Special Region" for economic and trading purposes.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Inauguration of Prabowo Subianto</span> 2024 presidential inauguration in Indonesia

The inauguration of Prabowo Subianto as the eighth president of Indonesia took place on Sunday, 20 October 2024, at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta. This inauguration marks the start of the five-year term of Prabowo Subianto as president and Gibran Rakabuming as vice president.

The Presidential Communication Office is a cabinet-level agency tasked to coordinate and deliver presidential messages and communication and to convey official comments on behalf of the president.

The Ministry of Internal Revenue, was a planned ministry in the Prabowo Cabinet tasked with collecting Indonesian taxes, customs, and excise and administering the Indonesian Internal Revenue Code. Prabowo Subianto announced the existence of this ministry on 25 September 2024. Prabowo asserted that this ministry would exist in his incoming administration.
