Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC) is a Chinese aircraft manufacturer in Shenyang,Liaoning and a subsidiary of AVIC. Founded in 1951 as the classified 112 Factory,it is the oldest aircraft manufacturer in the People's Republic of China. [2] The company mainly focuses on designing and manufacturing civilian and military aircraft and related components including jet engines,as well as UAVs such as SYAC UAV. [3]
Aircraft produced by SAC include J-5,JJ-1,J-8,J-11,J-15,J-16,and J-35. [4] [5]
On 27 November 2007,Cessna announced that the Cessna 162 Light Sport Aircraft would be produced by the Shenyang Aircraft Corporation. [6] The first production Cessna 162 took flight at Shenyang on 17 September 2009. The aircraft was not a success and production ended in January 2014 after 192 were sold. [7] [8] [9]
The Shenyang J-5 is a Chinese-built single-seat jet interceptor and fighter aircraft derived from the Soviet Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17. The J-5 was exported as the F-5 and was originally designated Dongfeng-101 and also Type 56 before being designated J-5 in 1964.
The Chengdu J-9 was an interceptor aircraft that was cancelled during development in the People's Republic of China (PRC). It was proposed in 1964 by the 601 Institute (Shenyang) as a higher-performing alternative to the Shenyang J-8. Development was disrupted by the Cultural Revolution and frequently changing requirements;in addition,development was transferred to the 611 Institute (Chengdu). The program was cancelled in 1980.
